I need a REALLY gritty body scrub

Hi all,

I suffer with bad ingrown hairs on my legs. I find that if I exfoliate before I shave it really helps and that’s why I am looking for a really, really tough and gritty exfoliater!

I can only ever seem to find gentle ones that don’t do anything for the ingrowns.

Can anyone recommend a scrub?

Thanks xxx

Try Lush's Rub Rub Rub scrub. I LOVE IT. It smells so gorgeous and it's quite gritty. I adore it

I was coming on to say the same as @Smashtastic: sea salt and olive oil. Ground coffee is also good.

Sanctuary or Soap and Glory scrubs here too .

I use rituals scrub but am interested in the Korean towels. Where do you get them ?

Callingallskeletons · 15/07/2020 18:54

Body shop pink grapefruit is really gritty, the soap and glory one suggested earlier is good too!

I found exfoliate on dry skin very effective! I only do it once a month but do it throughly and my skin always feel amazingly silky, soft and glowing afterwards. I normally use Body shop but have used ones from boots and Superdrug and all work very well with dry exfoliate method

Body shop pink grapefruit
I was looking for a scrub that didn't leave a horrible "coated" feeling on my skin. One of the BodyShop staff said this was the one !
It is brilliant , non greasy , smells lovely and works.

I use an epilator on my legs now so a slight residue isn't an issue .

Korean Italy cloths are brilliant . Long ,(30minutes ) hot, plain water soak then buff .

@northnorth I’ve made my own during the lockdown using coffee from used coffee pods and some coconut oil. It’s lovely and leaves my skin smooth.

planningaheadtoday · 15/07/2020 20:27

Put salt into oil and rub in and wash off.

A lot of expensive body scrubs are just salt in oil.

I love the Frank Body range - made using ground coffee. Messy, but work well.

@ScrapThatThen

Have you considered Korean towels? I recently bought some following years of recommendations on here. What came in the packet was three little green pockets of finely abrasive thin material. I have put my bars of soap in them and use one for face, one for body. Brilliant. Dds are going to use it for their bumpy upper arms to exfoliate.
You use them on your face? Shock You're really not supposed to...

Have you tried waxing ? I got rashes and ingrowns from shaving but not as bad with waxing.. Nip & Fab have got brilliant glycolic range out now and I find their facial scrub the best I can find on the high street (used to buy De Zo Obagi from a practitioner but it’s too expensive). They may have a body one. I’ve also got m&s Rosie body Scrub in large tub and it’s course and smells beautiful!!!

Body Shop Moringa body scrub! Smells amazing and leaves your skin feeling really soft xx

Fluffycloudland77 · 19/07/2020 07:50

I’m going to try those salux cloths, I like the idea of being able use them with soap every day.

The half hour soak with plain water puts me off Korean cloths. I’d be so bored.

MooMinCow · 19/07/2020 16:48

I use the Korean towels occasionally or the gloves a few times a week. I also tried a homemade scrub this morning which was very gritty Grin coffee grounds, brown sugar and olive oil. Washed with soap first, then turned off the shower and had a good scrub then rinsed and pat dry - AMAZING! Shower needed a good clean after as a bit oily but I won’t bother buying a body scrub now, this costs pennies and is so effective.

Solasta skin do beautiful coffee scrubs.

Rubber curry for horses Shock

Cheap, effective, can be used between showers on dry skin. Follow it with a roma face brush and moisturise after. In shower, poundland scrubby gloves.

I also am quite partial to Rose shine for mane/tail on my hair Grin and fully plan to replace my (for humans) hair brush with a natural bristle brush from saddlery when I can.

@QueenCT

Salux cloth. Amazon have them. Shits all over any body scrub!
Agreed! Use with any shower wash/gel. Better than anything!
