Dermaplaning

Does anyone do it?
I've been thinking about it for a while to get rid of the peach fuzz.. but I'm worried the hair will grow back thick and dark. My natural hair colour is almost black.

If you do it, any tips on doing it? And how often does it need to be done?

TIA

I do my own, once a month you dont want to be doing more than that. If you haven't already done so watch a youtube video and you'll be fine.

Also dark haired

EmptyOrchestra · 12/07/2020 13:59

I haven’t done it either due to the same fear. Also worried I’ll get spots when they start to grow back as that happens with the 2 or 3 thicker hairs I have that occasionally spout from my chin.

I’ve been doing it for a couple of years now and love it.
Always start with a clean face and use a new blade each time. I do it in good light and use the torch on my phone to make sure I’m not missing any bits (this would look really obvious when you’re done). I get ‘witch hairs’ on my chin but they’ve not been so noticeable since I’ve started but I don’t know if this is coincidence or not. Be very careful around your eyebrows! And also carry on down onto your neck too.
I always wash my face again after I’m done and use good moisturiser.
My skin looks so much better, make up sits beautifully and I just look more awake somehow. The hair doesn’t grow back thicker or longer or darker.

Do you have a dry face when you do it?

Justeats · 12/07/2020 15:55

Yes. I normally cleanse/wash and then dry and then I put on a light moisturiser because I can’t bear my face to feel dry. After about half an hour (to make sure the moisturiser has sunk in) I’m good to go. I’ve done it on friends who loved it, some have kept it up and some haven’t. The ones that haven’t didn’t notice any difference in the hair once it had regrown.

This is great, thank you @Justeats
Will order some dermaplaning blades and give it a try.

I do mine, mainly because I get really dark hair above my lip and waxing stings like a bitch.
I bought the veet dermaplainer, it came with oil and extra blades for £25 on Ebay.

I get mine from cheaply amazon (about £5 for 3). They’re sharp enough because I only use them once.
