I'm about to put mine in the loft. Was just going to stick it in a bin bag , but suspect that's a bad idea. How do you ladeez store yours?

Mine is hanging off an ariel which is attached to a rafter in our loft!

It has an old double duvet cover over it.

pinkbubble · 27/09/2007 15:33

Think someone told me black tissue paper, although I cant remember who it was. So please don't quote me, has anyone else heard this?

Jacaranda · 27/09/2007 15:35

I bought a box from the place were I bought the dress (wasn't much) and it came with the right kind of tissue paper that won't mark the dress or deteriorate ....apparently!!

Nip · 27/09/2007 15:40

In the drawer under the bed

DUSTIN · 27/09/2007 15:41

In a vacuum bag.

funnypeculiar · 27/09/2007 15:41

In a hanger bag
But then I havn't actually washed it yet.
And before you ask, we were married 5 years ago.

BigBeeristheBigBeer · 27/09/2007 15:42

I at least got mine dry cleaned!

freakypenguin · 27/09/2007 15:43

I had mine dry-cleaned and they offered for a small additional fee to fold it in tissue paper and store it in a big cardboard box. This is on the top shelf in a wardrobe.

But if I was putting it in a loft, like Dustin I would probably go for a vacuum bag which protects the clothes against mould etc.

janinlondon · 27/09/2007 15:55

Sell it!! You'll only weep over it when you find a) you don't fit into it any more, b) you find it is covered in mould, c) you find its been eaten by moths or d) your daughter rejects it for her own wedding when you've saved it for her for years. We had a lovely honeymoon on the proceeds of mine (oooh what a hard faced cow I am!!).

Meeely2 · 27/09/2007 15:59

funny peculiar, ha ha, mine is still in a hanging bag unwashed, 4 years later!

wonders just HOW mouldy her dress is now!

BigBeeristheBigBeer · 27/09/2007 17:19

I couldn't sell it. My DH would think it was a bad sign.

But I already wouldn't be able to fit in it. I've had two kids and put on a stone since we got married (4 yrs ago).

Where do you get vacuum bags from?

OP posts:
MadamePlatypus · 27/09/2007 17:21

Um, you put it on a hanger in the wardrobe. Be careful not to wash it or you might loose some of the original wedding day mud from the hem...

BigBeeristheBigBeer · 27/09/2007 17:27

platypus, it takes up too much room in my titchy wardrobe so its got to go in the loft.

NAB3 · 27/09/2007 17:59

I had mine professionally cleaned and it came back in a box like the All Gold chocolate box, but a lot bigger. You lift up the lid and it has a viewing window which shows the top of the dress. It is a bit scary tbh. Like a mannequin without a head. The box is then wrapped in bin liners to protect it in the loft.

DontCallMeBaby · 27/09/2007 20:03

On a hanger in the spare wardrobe. Carefully covered with a bag, of course. Unwashed - on the plus side, it was December (nearly eight years ago, ahem) so it wasn't like I sweated in it. On the minus, it definitely has sticky toffee sauce on the bum.

BigBeeristheBigBeer · 27/09/2007 21:18

Shudder, NAB3
