Conditioner that won't make the floor slippy!

My relative is in her 80s and washing her own hair for the first time in years due to covid situation. I am trying to find a conditioner that will do a decent job and ideally have a little bit of detangling action but won't turn the shower floor into a major fall risk!

Anyone know any? I was wondering about Liz Earle?

Have you thought about one of those grippy shower mats instead? It might be easier to use one of them than try and find a conditioner which fits the bill.

I wouldn't advise anyone in their 80s wash their hair in the shower really, as they would have to lean back and close their eyes which both can affect balance - and washing hair takes both hands so they can't hold a grab rail at the same time. Could they get one of those hose attachments that fits on taps so they could wash their hair at the sink? Or use a jug over the sink?

Is there room for her to have a shower seat? That way she can stay seated until she's finished and given the base of the shower a good rinse.

I find some conditioners lethally slippery, I find that I have to plant my feet and not move them at all until I've finished rinsing. I use a hair mask that isn't particularly slippery, but it doesn't really need to be used every wash. www.lookfantastic.com/phytoelixir-intense-nutrition-mask-200ml/11295606.html

I'd recommend a decent shower mat. I've not experienced slipping with conditioner in the shower.

She could also look at leave in conditioner or a 2 in 1 for convenience.

Yes to leave in, Aussie do a spray one.

Thank you everyone for the advice. A 2 in 1 could be good, I hadn't thought of that, and then maybe a leave in.

She does have a shower stool...I will check that it is on a mat. I think she just holds shower head in one hand to direct it rather than leaning back and using both hands to wash. Not ideal for rinsing but seems to be more comfortable with that. I would do it myself but don't live nearby.

Thanks again x

Get one without silicone, too. There’s loads.

I have long thick hair but have just started using a conditioner soap bar. It feels rubbish rubbing on my hair but my hair feels great.

I agree a mat is what you need. I frequently almost kill my DH with my slippery conditioner in the shower. I've been through loads of different ones, all to the same effect. The mat solved the problem (they do need cleaning though or they get moldy underneath)

Shower chair and a silicone free conditioner.

My DM loves her shower chair.

Thank you everyone. I am quite anxious about this because I once fell in a hotel shower and cracked a rib, got a black eye....I use a lot of conditioner!
