Best hairdryer for thick, yet fine, hair

I had a Diva hairdryer which was ok but has overheated/broken within a year. It was a bit too noisy for my liking too, although I can live with that if it's a good hairdryer.

My hair is kind of fine and prone to getting greasy quickly but there's lots of it so it's really thick, if that makes sense? Takes ages to dry at the moment - hoping to get it cut properly at some point.

Would love recommendations for a good hairdryer, doesn't need to be fancy!

Watching this thread with interest. My hairdryer just died and I need a new one. I have a revlon one step that I use regularly but could do with a hairdryer just in case. My hair sounds like yours. It’s curly and seems thick but it’s not really. When it’s straightened it actually looks really fine and limp. I really really want a dyson air wrap but just cant make myself do it

Buddy I've got the Dyson Airwrap and it's so worth the money. I have really thick hair and I've not had to straighten it once since I bought it.

Saves lots of time too as your styling as it's drying. The price tag is big but I can tell a difference in the condition of my hair already as it doesn't use high heat to style.

If you can, you should defo go for it.

My hair is fine but lots of it, so I understand.
When my last one died, I'd just moved house and had no money, so I took a punt on whatever was cheapest in Argos... It was a babyliss keratin shine 2200.
They've probably changed the model now, but they'll definitely have similar.
There are three of us here with fine but lots of hair, all with it to mid-back length. It dries us all fine, I like how smooth it makes DS' hair. DD gets stressed if I dry her hair too long (sensory issues with ASD) but I manage to get hers dry enough to sleep on in about six minutes.

Should also add, I've got 2C curly hair and the Airwrap gives me a straight blow dry that I've only been able to get at the hairdressers up until now. So I can get the volume of a blow dry without the "limp" look after using the straighteners.

I got the Revlon One Step and it works really well on my gigantic head of hair. The only issue I get is static from the plastic brush but I don't blame the one step too badly as my hair is so fine and straight it could go static in a steam room.

I've also read that ceramic heating element is better than metal but it's not always clear which one a hairdyer has - I assume they'd say if it was ceramic?

Looking at a few reviews and so far these look decent
Remington Keratin Protect Hair Dryer
BaByliss PRO Keratin Lustre Hair Dryer

There were a few making 'top 10' lists in mags but reviews looked less glowing...

I've got very thick, fine hair and I love my Parlux

KitMarlowesCodpieceOfThigh · 04/07/2020 12:04

I have a lot of fine hair and I have a Parlux (one of the compact ones). I love it! It dries my hair really quickly and you can get spare parts for it if it needs repair, I believe.

Parlux. Had mine five years plus and still going strong.

AsCoolAsLangCleg · 04/07/2020 12:11

I have your hair Op and the Dyson airwrap has been my saviour.

UrbanDox · 04/07/2020 12:16

Yes to Parlux. I have the same hair type- so much hair! Also, I recommend shampooing twice before conditioning, if you don't already do that.

Apolloanddaphne · 04/07/2020 12:18

I have a Parlux too. It dries my hair so quickly and keeps it lovely and smooth. I love it.

Estellelauder · 04/07/2020 12:30

Also a 2B curl type with bleach highlights and bra strap length hair so it’s dry and fine but thick and takes forever to dry naturally.

I have a Parlux and a Dyson airwrap.

The Parlux dries really quickly but my hair often looks straw-ish/need more product or a round brush to look polished (I’m not very dexterous)

The Airwrap takes more time but my hair looks much better and finished without product or octopus arms.

HyggeTygge · 04/07/2020 12:43

Grin I almost said "not parlux" in my op as s&b types always recommended them and in my head they were ridiculously expensive but the compact one linked doesn't seem too bad...

I use the GHD full size one, and don't need to use my GHD straightened any more. I love it. (Lots and lots of very fine hair).

nitgel · 05/07/2020 11:16

I have a parlux 385 would recommend for lots of fine hair as it's fast!
