Stylish backpack for carrying laptop

Morning all,

I'm returning to work in a couple of weeks, after working at home since March. Previously we were never allowed to work from home. From now on, we'll all be doing a combo of home and office. That, combined with the possibility of having to work from home at short notice if anyone in the house has to isolate, has made me realise I need a decent bag to carry my laptop to and from the office. I'd like a backpack. Any recommendations? It would need to hold all my work gear - laptop, iPad, lunch bag, water bottle. Ideally it would be waterproof, secure and look reasonably stylish with office wear. My husband offered me his Adidas one, but I'm not looking for a really sporty one.

Thanks in advance for any recommendations. Price is pretty flexible. I suppose I'd rather not spend more than £50, but I do want one that's strong enough to last.

This one is great, robust and loads of compartments (and £20)

I really love my one of these and always get complimented on it. I have the yellow one but it comes in loads of colours. Can fit in everything you say and has its own laptop compartment.

Maybe not stylish enough but I got the spotty one after reading the great reviews and it is fantastic. Loads of pockets, key holder, padded inside to protect my laptop.

I'm in the same position OP and after looking at quite a few online I just bought this one.

I was going to suggest Roka too, I love mine.

Thanks for asking this OP. I’m a teacher and likely to be moving around school more from September. The Roka one looks great.

I have an older version of this and love it. miatui.com/products/sydney-backpack-multiple-colours
Lots of pockets, drinks holder and laptop size.

ThroughThoroughThoughTough · 04/07/2020 09:41

I have the Mia Tui Sydney as well. Surprisingly capacious, comfy to wear (I find most backpack straps too wide) and really robust (I put it on the floor of the tube and it still looks fine).

Watching. Mine is a Kipling one and it's pretty good except I bought a printed one because it was half price, and I really wish it was black. They're so expensive though and the black ones never seem to go into the sale.

I’ve got the predecessor to this one and have been using and abusing it for years ! It carries loads and is still in excellent condition .

I like it because of the Laptop pouch and because the empty bag is very light. There are also number of pockets to keep things organised. The zips also go a long way round the side so its easy to lie on its back and open up completely.

What’s also good is that you can use it as a backpack (walking around town), handle on the top (lifting it up from the ground) or handle on the side (more like a briefcase). The other great thing is thats its cabin sized too so can easily be used if/when you travel on a plane or weekend away type stuff.

Thanks for posting OP. I had the same dilemma and am grateful for all the links here.

I’ve got the fjallraven one in grey. I work in quite a casual environment though.

recognising that this is the style and beauty board - but carrying all that weight round in a backpack without a hip belt is going to give you some lovely back problems.

lose the style priority and look for something that won't knacker up your back. That means something aimed at men - kit for women is loaded with silly straps, logos, tags etc which all add to the weight.

nctoday1 · 05/07/2020 17:57

I've got a black Kipling one with a black textured finish. I'm really glad I bought it - it weighs absolutely nothing when empty and doesn't get ruined by rain.

Rigorousyetcalm · 05/07/2020 18:06

Try Knomo for some good options. I’ve had some lovely bags from it. Currently I have a navy quilted effect back pack with bright yellow lining. It’s a few years old but in immaculate condition. Not sure what the current offerings are like.

MinesaPinot · 06/07/2020 18:07

My Knomo Beauchamp arrived today and I am really pleased with it. It looks stylish with plenty of pockets. My 14 inch laptop fits perfectly and there is another pocket inside for a tablet/Kindle. Plenty of room but it doesn't look big and bulky. Time will tell but so far so good.

MinesaPinot · 06/07/2020 18:08

Ps. Love the bright red lining as well.

Thisismynewname123 · 06/07/2020 18:34

My Knomo one is about 5 years old and if I never need to replace it, I'll get the same again. It's still as good as new

CoffeeRevelLove · 06/07/2020 19:26

I got the first Amazon one when my laptop was replaced with a larger one & it's brilliant. Perfect for traveling too as it has lots of handy gadget. Love the charger attached for a power bank. It's cheep but looks smart
