Trying on clothes in shops

I've not been to the high street since clothes shops reopened.
Do any shops allow you to try clothes on?
If not, has anyone heard when this is likely to be okay again?
I seem to recall that retailers were planning to quarantine items that had been tried on before putting them back out on racks.
I want to go shopping for clothes for my postponed summer holiday!

I was in a clothes shop at the weekend. They were letting customers try things on, but you had to give anything you didn't want back to the sales assistants. They would then steam them before they could be put back out on the sales floor.

Just been into our local town centre for first time. It was strange...al lot of the shops werent open - mainly independents but the large New Look was closed too which was surprising. Some are opening shorter hours too.
There was a short queue outside River Island (!), I was the only customer in Topshop, M&S was very quiet. TK Maxx was quiet at 10.30 buy was getting busier. Nowhere was allowing you to try clothes, and most places said to try to avoid touching unless you're buying (which isnt exactly easy if you're wanting to browse...

The biggest issue I had was that there were NO public toilets open! Ridiculous! You can buy a takeaway drink at a lot of places, but you cant go to the loo. I will not be spending any time in town again until they open at least some of the toilet facilities.

If you can't touch the clothes and you can't try on, I can't see what the point of going to the shops actually is - you might as well buy online.

I agree time40 - I am a big recreational shopper/browser but the current setup doesn’t appeal at all. I will continue to keep our Hermes lady in packages.

The toilet thing is also off putting!

There is another thread on here where a poster saw someone trying a dress on in the street outside the shop!

Levis are allowing trying on.

I agree with PPs, that the current set up puts high street shops at a great disadvantage compared to buying clothes online.
I can't see how these places will stay open if things don't change soon.
