Marionette lines

At the grand old age of 38 my marionette lines at the side of my mouth make me look like I’m grumpy (even more so than my normal facial expression does). Is there anything I can do to reduce and lessen the appearance. I don’t smoke or drink though my diet does need work. I feel as sad as they make me look though and I’d love to be able to do something about them.

Botox works really well for marionette lines. You have to find a practitioner that's experienced in this, not everyone does it.
It's also very good for a downturned mouth.

@Annettebee I wanted my downturned mouth sorting out and was told by my very experienced practicioner that botox wouldnt work, only fillers. I was disappointed with the results and wouldnt do it again.

Will be interesting to hear if anyone else has had botox and its worked.

I was told fillers not Botox too.

I’ve had a bit of Botox around there without much difference. Think it’s fillers really.

Botox temporarily weakens muscle, filler adds volume.
Some muscles on your face are more dominant. Look in the mirror and talk, you'll see the areas with lines are the ones that you use a lot when talking etc. If you weaken these muscles the lines fade. The problem with marionette lines and botox is most practitioners don't do it, if they get in wrong it can temporarily effect your speech, lips etc. The best person to see would be a maxiofacial surgeon, so at a private hospital.
The 1st session with botox they will be conservative as better to give too little than too much so arrange to go back in 2 weeks if you are not happy. Google botox for marionette line, downturned mouth.
You can also use it on the chin & jaw.
I highly recommend it, but you must see someone that has experience in this area.
If you don't see a result it's because you needed more.
Sometimes the muscle is very strong which of course make the lines deeper.
