I'm in England, hairdresser will be opening a week today and has laid out changes on Instagram:
Masks for customers, PPE (not sure what) for staff same, you can either bring your own mask or buy one for £1. Hairdressers wearing masks and a face shield.
Wait outside until you are called same, this makes sense to limit amount of people in the building
Looks like the stylist does everything - what’s happened to the juniors? same, guessing this is probably national policy to avoid customers getting up close to different people.
Go on your own - which I know most people do, but what about kids’ haircuts? same, unless your kid is having a haircut too.
Extended opening hours to accommodate fewer people in at once same, open 9am - 9pm
Screens/spaced out workstations same, they have to stick to social distancing guidelines in order to be allowed to open
Price hike same, they have to cover the costs of their PPE and having less clients at one time compared to what they usually would.
No tea/coffee/mags same, makes sense for cross contamination. I will miss my post teapot though!
Card payment only, and a £50 booking deposit. same, think a lot of places are avoiding cash now as the virus can live on it apparently. They introduced the booking deposit system before covid because of a lot of no shows. It's only a small salon anyway so 1 or 2 no shows a day probably makes a big difference to their takings
In addition, my hairdresser has asked people not bring bags or coats with you if possible, you have to wash your hands on arrival and have to provide contact details for potential contact tracing.
