Nesti Dante soaps - what's your favourite?

ViveLEntenteCordiale · 28/06/2020 01:25

I've seen these recommended on soap threads and want to try them - have now found out where to buy online to get free delivery to France, whoop whoop! (Ok, I am overexcited about soap...)

What are your favourites? Am tempted by lavender and verbena - I like them separately but don't know if they go together? And fig and almond - more almondy or figgy? What else is good? I like citrus and fruity scents, open to others but not so keen on in-your-face florals (apart from lavender). I need one for hand washing and one for the shower... and probably some spares! I wish I could smell them all! Thank you soap connaisseurs!

Ooh so many lovely choices! Thanks again. Am wishing they did a guest soap size so I could try more Grin

Can't help with the dish, I have an old soap stand with wires across like a cake rack. Everything fits on it but I've no idea where I bought it.

I agree about the smaller bars, the big ones take too long to use up so you can move on to the next scent. I find some of them smell gorgeous when in their wrapper but don't smell as strong once in use.

I agree about the sets of smaller ones, but the only drawback is that there might be some scents you're not keen on. I have the Emozioni in Toscana set and I'd recommend it; it has Villages & Monasteries and Thermal Waters which are both divine. There's only one I don't like as it's very masculine (Mediterranean Touch), the others are lovely.

Portofino is also gorgeous. I'm currently on Peach and Melon which I loved the smell of through the wrapper, but it's a bit more delicate when in use. Still nice though, but I'm looking forward to trying the next one.

Any of the paradiso tropicale scents, fig and almond or the il frutetto ones. I usually buy them on amazon as they're a bit cheaper.

Agree its boting waiting to finish a scent though, they last ages. I've been debating cutting them in half before starting one so I can flit between them quicker. Sounds deranged but I cut (an unused) one in half to give a friend some to sample as she loved the smell, and cutting the actual soap was insanely satisfying. Blush

Soap cutting for relaxation is a thing dontgobaconmyheart - see below:

Bluebellbike · 29/06/2020 09:46

I love them all. But I got the really big ones nd wish I hadn't as they are difficult to hold. I'm thinking of cutting them in half.

Orangesox · 29/06/2020 10:23

Has anyone tried their liquid soaps? I'm really keen to try Nesti Dante but I've always been put off by them being bars.

When we've tried bar soaps before, they end up left in the sink, going on the floor etc (very small guest toilet sink which struggles to accommodate a soap dish). I suppose I could hoard a lovely bar just for my own use in my bathroom though Grin

Appuskidu · 29/06/2020 11:26

We have the Fig and Almond liquid soap in the bathroom-it’s lovely, smells just like the bar.

Sakura7 · 29/06/2020 16:25

Are the bars easy to cut up? I have visions of the time I (very unsuccessfully) tried to halve a lush bath bomb.

XingMing · 29/06/2020 17:30

Not that easy; they often crumble awkwardly. DH gets a cleaner cut than I do, so I make him cut the bars.

Just coming back to say thanks again! Happy there are some fans out there. I haven't actually ordered yet as annoyingly Look Fantastic wouldn't send the other thing I wanted to France, and I couldn't justify either paying the postage or spending £25 on soap! But I will find it... will definitely be getting the fig. if any one has recommendations for places where it's comparable to uk prices and who will post it to France cheaply/for free, please let me know. On Amazon the euro prices seem high, considering the current exchange rate, and have to pay postage as well Angry I have looked elsewhere but my brain started getting overloaded trying to compare prices!

Love the soap carving article - problem solved for everyone who thinks the bars are too big. I have had 250 soaps in the past and they are fine - they soon shrink.

I do like the idea of the sets but am afraid I wouldn't like enough of the scents - though they'd make great presents.

I have only switched to bar soap in the ensuite (used mostly by me) where there is room and no danger of people not putting it back on the soap stand. I have one on the sink and one on the bath/shower. I find liquid soap more manageable in the kitchen, also in the downstairs loo as the sink in there is tiny!

Villages & Monasteries is my favourite. I put the empty wrapper in with my knitting to make it smell nice!

ElizabethMainwaring · 03/07/2020 04:20

I've bought the fig one and the paradiso tropicale ones.
Fig was fine, but I was allergic to the paradiso one after one use. Never had a reaction to soap before.
I'm not sure that they are a good choice if you have sensitive skin.

Magissa · 03/07/2020 05:06

My favourite is the black one. Makes the whole bathroom smell. Really makes my skin soft.

YouAndMeAndTheDevilMakesThree · 03/07/2020 05:17

Not tried many but Golden Countryside is lovelu

ChrissyPlummer · 03/07/2020 05:31

I like the Il Frutetto collection so I normally order that from Liberty; don’t know if they deliver to France though. Another favourite is the Hawaiian Guava.

Amyheadache · 03/07/2020 06:43

They sell these in tk maxx if anyone is going out to shops. I bought a set for my sister at Xmas

WrinklesShminkles · 03/07/2020 13:20

Escentual.com sell them.

Alsohuman · 03/07/2020 14:33

I love Portofino, it’s my favourite. I couldn’t possibly cut them up, it spoils the look of them, which is half the point. I regularly find them in TK Maxx.

KatherineParr4 · 03/07/2020 14:35

I think TK Maxx have them don’t they?

Alsohuman · 03/07/2020 14:35

Oh, and they make amazing room fragrances if you tuck them behind a radiator. I discovered this by accident and do it intentionally now.
