I'm looking for recommendations of how you protect and clean Trinny-style white leather trainers.
Hit me with what you’ve found works please... Especially if you wear them in the rain.

Spray with protractor first , use baby wipes to wipe after every use and bung in the wash if they get a bit grey . Otherwise it's just the way it goes with white trainers !

Quoto · 27/06/2020 15:43

I can't keep mine clean. Have changed to black trainers now.

MathsFiend · 27/06/2020 16:55

Try using CIF on them to clean them

parentofteen · 27/06/2020 17:06

Buy them from Clark's - their soles are made from rubbery material rather than sponge and clean up like a dream.

Sammyset · 27/06/2020 17:14

Thanks.
@parentofteen I have just bought them, but not from Clarks.
@oohnicevase - is there a protector brand you recommend please?

Flash wipes with Bleach (or any cleaning wipes with bleach) on the white bits.

troppibambini · 27/06/2020 18:35

Magic erasers work brilliantly especially on leather.

ElizabethinherGermanGarden · 27/06/2020 18:42

If leather, you can use cif and they come up lovely.

healththrowawayx · 27/06/2020 18:49

Wish I knew!

I just don’t wear white trainers if it’s raining or recently rained anymore (as the ground will be muddy). Sucks but they would need to be constantly repurchased otherwise.

I’m scared of throwing my trainers in the washing machine as even on a delicate cycle, they got a bit battered eg the insoles ended up falling out

Rollerbird · 27/06/2020 19:04

I use magic eraser and cif on tough bits

Kaykay066 · 27/06/2020 19:07

Keep them in the box, they are shoes they aren’t meant to stay immaculate

Just a microfiber cloth for me, with any multipurpose spray I can find around the house. Sometimes I use an old toothbrush too.

Wow, that sounds a lot like an advert @MsTracy

I was wondering the same thing as I bought some at the start of winter and haven't worn them much yet. I might try the protector spray.

I have the same issue and have just given up on them except on dry days when I know I'll only be walking on the pavements

AThroneOfLies · 02/02/2022 14:15

Mine go in washing machine but I do take the soles out first

actiongirl1978 · 02/02/2022 14:54

I love white trainers and I live in the country so mud is unavoidable. I just go with it. I think they look better when they are worn in anyway.

NotImpossible · 02/02/2022 15:07
@NotImpossible I'm very sorry if my reply sounded like an advert. It was not planned to be spam.
As I noticed a few suggestions above, thought to share something I have been using for a couple of years now.
Over the years, I have been using different protectors because I'm kind of "sneakerhead" and most of them provides water and dirt repellent effect but could have different side-effects such as white stripes, unexpected leather hardening, material stopped breathing which lead to sweaty feet.
Apologies, I did think it was spam Blush

Tiramysu · 02/02/2022 20:25

Keep them in the box when not wearing them to prevent them being dirted by other shoes
