SLS free shampoo and conditioner

GemmeFatale · 26/06/2020 21:03

I have super frizzy hair and I’m considering going SLS free on hair products.

Can anyone make a recommendation please?

Bonus points if it’s reasonably priced and available at the supermarket or via amazon.

Thanks

I like faith in nature shampoos!

silentpool · 26/06/2020 21:33

Faith in Nature is often cheap at TK Maxx. I've been using a L'Oreal sensitive scalp one which has been quite nice and that was from Superdrug. I believe the Garnier Hair Food range might also suit and Ive seen that at the supermarket.

Shosha1 · 26/06/2020 21:38

Faith in Nature I use it for everything. Shampoo, conditioner, bodywash, handwashing and moisturiser. I am so allergic to SLS and find them perfect.

irisheyesaresmiling7 · 26/06/2020 21:57

I have very curly hair which used to be fizzy until I started using Tropic shampoo and conditioner but you have to buy it from an ambassador.
Unfortunately they don't have any styling products so I use label m curl creme which is fab!

MardalaRhyme · 26/06/2020 22:09

Tresseme do a sulphate free shampoo and conditioner that is stocked by tesco. It's the pro sulphate free collection.

Stillabitemo · 26/06/2020 22:10

Lee Stafford hair apology range

QuantumGirl · 26/06/2020 22:12

Ogx Brazilian Keratin shampoo (currently £4 at Waitrose) and Hask shampoo from Boots.

Custardcreamies101 · 26/06/2020 22:16

Smith England shampoo. They sell it it Sainsburys...it foams really well even though sls free. Can also buy online too

PurpleFrames · 26/06/2020 22:22

Another vote for Faith In Nature
I'd say avoid Holland and barrats shampoos, I've worked my way through their range and found it no where near as good as FiN.

WutheringShites86 · 26/06/2020 22:37

Hask, available in Boots and online, lots of different options. I'm using the coconut water volume shampoo and argan oil conditioner. I think there's a 3rd off at boots at the mo.

Leflic · 27/06/2020 03:39

Avon.

It’s an all in one. Seems ok although only used it once so far (supporting neighbours new business)

moomoogalicious · 27/06/2020 07:23

Does faith in nature have a strong scent. My autistic daughter is after an sls free shampoo and can't tolerate anything strong smelling

Anotherscentedcandle · 27/06/2020 07:26

I was after this recommendation as well so thanks. Faith in Nature is also not tested on animals so that's another big tick.

ovener · 27/06/2020 07:27

I like Noughty shampoo and conditioner.

@moomoogalicious Faith in Nature are usually quite strongly scented, yes, but they also do a fragrance free version of the shampoo, conditioner and body wash.

I use the OGX Keratin shampoo & conditioner too. Have tried others and always seem to go back to it. Liz Earle is good too (but more expensive)

MrsBennetsnerves · 27/06/2020 07:57

@GemmeFatale I like the fact that Faith in Nature are often refillable, but I only co-wash and have found the best product for my hair in Poundland, hence super cheap. Xhc ginger conditioner. I think the banana and green tea ones are Curly girl friendly too. I can't recall whether the shampoos are also SLS free.

@moomoogalicious Urtekram is another brand that does an excellent unscented conditioner. I haven't tried the shampoo so can't vouch for that.

LunaLoveFood · 27/06/2020 08:00

I know I always recommend their products but I promise I don't work for them, but moogoo do brilliant all natural shampoo and conditioner. I've gone from washing my hair every day to every other and it looks and feels great.
They also do a protein leave in conditioner, which is a bit rich for my hair but for dry hair would work really well.

FairfaxAikman · 27/06/2020 17:08

I use the OGX Argan oil ones. No strong smell either.

GreyishDays · 27/06/2020 17:12

Funny, I just commented about these earlier.

There’s a nice list here. The Faith in Nature are nice, and do come down in price to about £4 regularly on amazon. Even better though are Aubrey Organics and Avalon. They just have a better feel to them and leave a nicer shine.
Jason Fragrance free is the best for a sensitive scalp I’ve found, but again a bit more expensive than Faith in Nature.

GreyishDays · 27/06/2020 17:12

Meant to say, all those are via amazon.

CornishTiger · 27/06/2020 17:19

What @LunaLoveFood said. Moo goo. Plus offer on at mo where you buy shampoo and conditioner and get protein shot leave in free.

I have used it for years and got some local shops to stock it. If you have a day Lewis pharmacy you’re might be lucky to pick it up locally or use their stockist checker to find it.

I dabble with others every now and again. Sukin is good but I always come back to moo goo.

CornishTiger · 27/06/2020 17:20

And a 500ml bottle lasts ages. Comes with a pump and you don’t need much. You do need to work it into scalp but it leaves no residue and within a few washes your scalp will really improve.

LunaLoveFood · 27/06/2020 19:26

@CornishTiger I bought new bottles at the beginning of lockdown and still lots left. I love the company and used loads of their products.

GemmeFatale · 28/06/2020 10:17

Thanks all. The local refill shop appears to stock faith in nature so I’m going to start there and work through the suggestions.
