Dry clean only?

Hoping to get some advice on this jumpsuit I’ve bought!

www.hobbs.com/product/julianna-colourblock-jumpsuit/0120-5497-3697L00-MIDNIGHT-IVORY.html#q=Jumpsuit&is=false&sz=60&start=0&pid=0120-5497-3697L00-MIDNIGHT-IVORY&pos=0

It looks absolutely lovely (and it was even cheaper when i got it- £37!), but now I’ve noticed it says dry clean only? I wondered if this is just the manufacturer being overly cautious, because the material is 100% polyester which I would usually just pop in the wash.

If i washed on a gentle wash in one of those little mesh lingerie wash bags would that be okay? Or do you think the colours would just run?

It's the risk of colour run and the professional pressing that make it difficult. Is it a crepe finish? If you are confident with your fine ironing skills yes go ahead.

Cold delicate wash inside a lingerie bag on its own, with a colour catcher sheet, non bio and no softener low spin, hang immediately to dry and low iron under a linen pressing cloth.
Personally I'm allergic to dry cleaning chemicals so I always have to do this with dry clean only clothes - and I'm a seamstress so I'm used to working with lots of fabrics. I hope it works out for you it looks like a really nice piece.

I usually wash everything, but I’d be more worried about doing it with a jumpsuit that willl need washed a lot because of the white top and sweaty crotch! I’d do it inside out in a large bag (so it’s not crushed) on a 30c hand wash cycle, with woolite and a colour catcher. I wouldn’t put anything else with it. Whip it out immediately and hang to dry, then use a steamer on it rather than an iron. I wash everything except tailoring and have never had a disaster, but I’m very careful - I’d never just throw it in with a normal load.

I’d just throw it in the machine on a 30 degree delicates wash. I wouldn’t wear anything like a jumpsuit more than once (undersrms/crotch) and it would spend more time in the cleaners than it would on me or in the wardrobe otherwise.

Let us know what you decide.

I'm an ex dry cleaner and dry cleaning that is just as hazardous and you may need to pay extra for it to be cleaned alone .
A simple lesson - the dry cleaner has a light tank and dark tank of solvent which gets recycled and cleaned in each load . If they have polluted solvent then some dark dye from a previous load can get on the white . It's unlikely that blue will run into the white because it would need to be colour fast for the dry cleaner and polyester doesn't really ever run.
In conclusion if it were mine I would bing it in the wash and risk it .
