What will fade age spots?

I'm currently using TO niacinamide, hyaluronic acid and rosehip oil plus Inkey retinol. I also use spf during the day. What should I add to this lot that might help to fade two faint age spots?

If it helps, I have combination skin.

I should add, I wear a high spf every day and have done for years.
I'll look into zinc supplements. Lots of skin care recommendations here...not sure which to try first... feels like I'd have quite a few layers of product on my face!

None of the products suggested are particularly expensive. Most are can got for for under £10 if you know what to look for.

KaptainKaveman I got my Niacinamide from The Ordinary in the sale (the formula also contains zinc), I have to use it very sparingly as its quite powerful.

My Vitamin C is a booster thing I picked up from Superdrug, to be honest I don't really use it that much but my boyfriend quite likes it weirdly.

To be honest if you're already using a retinol OP that should do the trick, but if you're keen to introduce one more step into your routine then based on what you've said I would go with Vit C.

Tropic Glow Berry vitamin c serum....fantastic for reducing pigmentation

Stressingismyhobby · 02/07/2020 08:51

@GoldenZigZag when you say the niacinamide is pretty powerful, how do you mean? Because I've been using it a while now but not noticed anything. In fact, I've been using all the products I mentioned for around 3 months and I've not really noticed any changes in my skin...

I mainly use it for blemishes rather than pigmentation - so it can clear up a blemish in one or two nights which is great but if I use it on its own or too much of it it can make my skin feel really tight. The first time I used it was like 'crikey!' and had to tone it down a bit.

Apple Cider Vinegar faded some freckles on my face so might be worth a try.

Retinol from retinol can differ. You need to check what type of retinol is in your product as there is a hierarchy of potency and some does absolutely zilch. Same with vitamin c, as only concentrations of 10 percent and above are effective.

I use tretinoin mixed with niacinimide from Dermatica and spf 50 anti pigment from Ultrasun. I’ve notice a couple of age spots have disappeared since I started with it all.

GoldenZigZag
Bollocks Swim, my bottle of Niacinamide cost 2.99 and will last months. My Vitamin C, although not the strongest concentration, cost in the region of a fiver. Effective skin care is very affordable these days.
And topical application of active ingredients is a far quicker way of treating age spots than diet. Stop being so sanctimonious.

Oh dear. Bollocks not applicable in my case… Smile

Many posters seem quite interested in dietary zinc, much to your repugnance I imagine.

From your delightful response, you clearly recognise that you’re actually treating a symptom of poor diet.

Not sanctimonious - just factual.
