Choosing neutrals/base colours for wardrobe?

I’m definitely not going to be able to escape black, but also have quite a bit of navy, beige and a little grey. I use leopard print as a sort of neutral too! How many neutrals/base colours should you have? Is this too many?

I think that’s fine. Not too much at all

I'd say 3 max as a general rule of thumb, just so that they all go together.

For me navy and black don't go, and lots of navy shades don't work with grey either.

I'd probably ditch the navy and grey, and have black, beige and leopard as your bases. Although I'm a lazy cow who like to throw things together easily, with handbags etc as well, and a fairly capsule wardrobe.

If you love having LOADS of stuff then ignore me Grin

Black and navy is incredibly chic, far more so than black and and camel. Camel is actually a really difficult colour for many to wear, and easy to get wrong. Navy and charcoal grey looks beautiful, also, navy and very very pale grey

My wardrobe is predominantly navy, grey and white, with black, a few stripes, a few florals and snow leopard added in as and when. (Regular leopard does not work with my colouring.).

Personally, I’d look at your wardrobe as a whole and ensuring it all works together, rather than deciding various colours are bass colours or neutrals. What colours do you enjoy wearing? What colours/items of clothing do you find yourself wearing most often? This is how you work out what is working for you, what to ditch, and what to buy more of.

(Am an ex-personal shopper/stylist if that helps. I ‘know’ what I am talking about.)
