What are these hair thingies called?

I saw them recommended on here as a way to keep hair out of your eyes when running etc. They are like Alice bands but go all the way around your head.

I am sure there was a particular brand that was recommended but I can't find it for love nor money.

Also, do they work on really fine, slippery hair or do they just slide off?

Hygge band?

Someaddedsugar · 20/06/2020 21:56

Is it these OP?

summerfish · 20/06/2020 21:57

Yes yes yes, thank you! Will they work on slippy fine hair?

I’ve never bought them but they’re always really popular on the Christmas bargains thread as a gift for runners

hyggebands.com

Use code 3FREE

You. Get four for the price of three. I have loads of them.

I love them

CMOTDibbler · 20/06/2020 22:03

I don't know if they've got better, but the Hygge bands I have don't stay on unless pulled right down to my eyebrows which is not a good look.
I use a Buff tube when colder, and a buff visor when it is warmer - the wide soft band also keeps my earphones in

Theyweretheworstoftimes · 20/06/2020 22:04

Mine have never slipped off, I run and bike with them. Wear them all day and they double up as a non scary face covering so I don't scare my little one.

MuddlingThrough1724 · 20/06/2020 22:35

I have the Hygge bands......slip straight off my hair unfortunately. Got some elastic hairbands that go while way around head and have the grippy stuff on one side, fairly certain they were Leo Bancroft ones, or whichever brand you can buy in supermarkets with bright yellow labels!

StillWeRise · 20/06/2020 22:39

they cost nearly £19 !!!!!!
for a headband!!!!!!

WatchingFromTheWings · 20/06/2020 22:48

@StillWeRise you buy one and get three free so it's not so bad like that. I have 4 and use them loads.

Voice0fReason · 20/06/2020 23:05

I use them sometimes, they are very good for keeping hair off your face for a facial or doing eyebrows.
However, I have fine hair and they slide off incredibly easily.
Definitely wouldn't stay put for any kind of exercise.

Lots of cheaper ones on Amazon.

summerfish · 21/06/2020 08:23

Thanks, it sounds like the Hygge ones might be too slippery for me.

Do the Buff ones stay put? I can't tell if they're sort of the same thing or more of a winter product.

Ever used a hygge band but I run with a buff like this one from decathlon. I have fine hair and a buff stays in place for me. I like that a buff can be folded over as many times as you want - so large like a hygge or smaller more headband like. www.decathlon.co.uk/neck-warmer-alpinism-blue-id_8551481.html?iv_=iv_p_1_g_61113988777_c_316312114266_w_pla-308327991064_n_g_d_m_v__l__t__r_x_pla_y_15177021_f_online_o_2779987_z_GB_i_en_j_308327991064_s__e__h_9046771_ii__vi&gclid=Cj0KCQjwirz3BRD_ARIsAImf7LNQmL4Kdnfs0qcwc0ZQwCyHn60Jp3IleTbj6KWk2yLzXFCT3Dk03MkaAmtjEALw_wcB

Bella444 · 21/06/2020 08:42

I have fine, thin hair and a small head Grin. The Hyggea (sp!) bands stay on me, I did the whole London marathon in one.

homemadecommunistrussia · 21/06/2020 08:48

I think it's more to do with the size of your head than your hair. The only hairbands that stay put for me are ones I make myself.

Iliketeaagain · 21/06/2020 08:55

They're handy things. I've also used mine as a face covering when in a shop before I got a washable mask- just pulled it up over my nose and mouth and it stayed put.

summerfish · 21/06/2020 13:26

Ah! I thought Buff was a brand name - is it just a type of band thingy?
