Wardrobe overhaul help - capsule by colours (sort of)?!

Really interested to hear from anyone who has colour-coded their wardrobe fairly strictly? Has it worked? I’ve got so much stuff I’m wondering if this might help... Also thought I might limit prints to certain styles too as my wardrobe is so eclectic! I guess I’m looking to do a very contemporary take on a capsule wardrobe...?! Would also really love to find my key pieces, so hearing about other people’s might help...

Any thoughts? Would love to hear about your wardrobe clear outs, capsule ideas, etc!

Thanks in advance! x

I haven't consciously done this but when I look at my wardrobe it's all blues, greens and greys with a couple of mustard or dusky pink items thrown in there, and one or two black or white staples. And the prints / embroidery / embellishments tend to be sort of "ethnic". I didn't do that deliberately but those are the colours and styles I gravitate towards. Most of my tops and bottoms can be worn together, barring a few combinations where the cuts just aren't flattering. Whenever I have tried to branch out red skinny jeans I'm looking at you I've ended up not wearing them and getting rid of them pretty quickly.

Most of mine is black and grey, with splashes of red and pink.

I'd recommend getting your colours & style 'done'. I did this about 6 years ago, was a great day out & I was analysed as an 'Autumn'. Generally everything in my wardrobe goes together now as it's all in a complementary palette.

I need to work on trimming it down to a capsule type wardrobe & reduce the stuff now - many sizes in the hope of losing a lot of weight & officewear that I can't see myself wearing anytime soon

Absolutely. Generally have a palette of five colours, plus grey as my neutral. It makes shopping so much easier, as well as coordinating your wardrobe. It's well worth the time investment to figure out your five colours and clear out the rest.

I have this and found that I'd gravitated to a selection of colours over the years. I'm a clear winter.
Neutrals - black or charcoal grey
Main colours - red, bright blue, leopard
Accents - hot pink, purple
