Rosacea help!

I’ve been reading that I need soolantra for rosacea, has anyone used it and where do I get it from?
Just in the last few months I’ve started getting itchy cheeks and red pimples on them which I can only think is rosacea

It's prescription only so you'd need to see your Gp.

JingleCatJingle · 19/06/2020 10:17

No, you can get it online.
Pharmacy2U is a good site.

@JingleCatJingle

No, you can get it online. Pharmacy2U is a good site.
But that's still prescription only, it's just a private prescription rather than one from your Gp.

Personally I'd want to be getting it by my own doctor so they can monitor progress.

OP please ask for azelaic acid cream from your GP. It really helps with rosacea. There are 2 strengths: 15% called Finacea and 20% called Skinoren. Give them a go.

Ask your GP. It might not be on the list of things they routinely prescribe - I had to go through zero results with Rosex, Metrogel, etc - but it's getting more widely known. I printed out some references I'd found on the internet (this is about 5 years ago now) and the GP looked it up, and agreed I could be the clinic's guinea pig.

But definitely see the GP just to confirm it is rosacea first.

YY to finacea gel - I get it and the Soolantra in combination every six months or so.

Budapestpest · 19/06/2020 11:24

Thanks everyone. Gives me something to look at. I feel a bit reluctant to see a gp at the moment as it’s not an urgent health issue but at least I can look into these

You don't have to see a GP. Book an appointment via push doctor. It's done online. Completely free and will issue perscription via your health centre as usual.

I used Soolantra a few years ago and it transformed my face. Didn't even know I had Rosacea until I went to GP about the mahoosive spots I'm cursed with every month!

Our GP is doing phone appointments and you can send a photo in for the doc to look at before your appt. Definitely worth a consultation to get the best course of treatment.

ppeatfruit · 19/06/2020 14:03

Have a look at Evening Primrose Oil, it gives the body the omega 3s that we need (the modern diet often doesn't contain enough). I used to have rosacea which disappeared when I stopped eating tomatoes and oranges

Liz Earle's book New Vital Oils will help too.

JingleCatJingle · 19/06/2020 19:02

@Thighmageddon you can actually do a consultation with the site and get Soolantra without ever visiting a GP.

JingleCatJingle · 19/06/2020 19:05

Pharmacy2u you just fill in a questionnaire and upload photos. The site GP will review and if they think it will help they’ll prescribe it.

Try zinc and calendula cream from Lyonsleaf.
Amazing stuff

ppeatfruit · 20/06/2020 14:00

Yes cuteglasses I use Weleda baby Zinc and calendula cream it's great. Very calming and takes away redness.

Oh and another way to deal with sensitive skin is to bath and wash in softened\filtered water (but careful with washing your clothes with strong soaps\detergents etc.) I just splash my face in the special water.

I also moisturise with very gentle almond oil, sometimes with a couple of drops of lavender ess. oil. That is so soothing, it gets rid of any soreness.

GreenTulips · 20/06/2020 15:45

I typed the symptoms in the NHS website and kept getting cold sores

I used coldsore cream and it went in 2 days
