Tinted moisturiser

Any recommendations for a good tinted moisturiser? I'm a double wear fan most of the year but it's a bit heavy during the summer months. I've heard good things about NARS tinted moisturiser but it's £££, which I feel is a bit too much to spend just to wear for a few months over the summer - anyone have any other recommendations?

I used the Nivea Tinted Moisturiser with SPF 15 pretty much every day and it is fine, and insanely cheap.

I say this as someone who has tried a ridiculous number of different foundations and tinted moisturisers, including the high-end Korean stuff that needs to be imported. Seriously, the Nivea is as good as any of them.

I just mix some moisturiser in with my foundation. Superdrug used to do a great bb cream, but it seems to have been discontinued.

I've just bought Code8 Radiate BB cream and I'm really liking it. Nice texture, colour matches well and gives a 'my skin but better' look that is perfect for right now.

If money is an issue use a sponge to put your makeup on, it does even things out but a far more natural and sheer finish.
I use Glossier skin tint which is cheap enough but v v sheer, like zero coverage

dementedma · 17/06/2020 19:37

Since I started using Retinol I now wear a factor 50 sunscreen. it is mildly tinted so I don’t bother with foundation as well.

ThatShallot · 17/06/2020 19:55

In the winter months I use Double Wear when I need more coverage or this By Terry

In the summer I wear this Lumene one, it isn't cheap but it's a proper tinted moisturiser so you don't need both, that's how I justify spending the money anyway Grin Lumene.

Zengarden001 · 17/06/2020 20:09

Thanks for your suggestions, I think I'd like something with a bit of coverage. I find a lot of tinted moisturisers (and foundations) to be too yellow toned for me, perhaps it's worth investing in one even if it's just for wearing over the summer months.

Boots No7 Beautiful Skin BB cream. It's great.

Sparkletastic · 17/06/2020 20:22

Glossier Skin Tint 👌🏼

I've spent fortunes over the years on Clinique, Clarins, Charlotte tilbury, etc but you know the best thing I find is Avon's BB cream, it's lovely and moisturising with a lovely matte colour but looks so natural it's not got that heavy foundation type look. I use it for daytime as have quite blotchy, uneven skin tone (and black under eyes) and it just evens everything out nicely. It's about £4 and I never thought I'd be an Avon recommender but here I am!

GinandGingerBeer · 17/06/2020 20:50

Ooh yes, I've just bought new one from max factor and it's lovely, Caroline Barnes did a you tube video on it and it's definitely as good as she says. It gives probably more coverage than a lot of tinted moisturisers but feels very light. It's called Miracle skin or something similar! I got it when Superdrug did their BOGOF a couple of Saturdays ago.

I love By Terry Cellularose CC Cream but its expensive (£58). I picked up M&S Autograph BB cream for £10 last week and so far I'm happy with my cheaper alternative

BorsetshireBlueBalls · 17/06/2020 22:17

I like Laura Mercier Oil-Free tinted moisturiser, I'm quite pale, so use Bisque, but there are loads of shades. It comes in a more moisturised formula too, but I like the matt version. It's about £35 but lasts me a good 6-7 months of daily wear, and I don't wear much other make-up, so don't mind spending a bit more on this. Haven't tried the other brands that often get praised, 'cos I can't bear to spend money on something that might not suit, and I'm then stuck with it (I am looking at the Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk lippy - lovely formula, makes my complexion look muddy, too mean to throw it away.)

I have the nivea one and I apply it with a foundation brush and do two layers. It’s very cheap. The only downside is it’s rather dewy - maybe a bit too much for a zoom call so I usually apply bare minerals loose powder over the top for zooms.

I am also using retinol so use a heavy night cream - cera ve - and I think this means my skin is very shiny anyway!

I would like to find a mattifying one!

forrandomposts · 17/06/2020 23:06

I tried the no.7 one as it's often recommended in here - it's shit. Just pills on skin

MrBennsshop · 17/06/2020 23:19

I guess it depends on your skin? I don't have that problem with the No.7 one.

Laura Mercier is also good, and Vichy Creme Teintee Lumineuse was my favourite until they discontinued the fairest shade.

weareyoung · 18/06/2020 09:01

I used Laura Mercier for years, until they fucked about with the formula and ruined it (see recent thread about it causing eye issues). It used to be my holy grail and I recommended it to everyone.

It's absolutely shocking now. It oxidises like nothing I've ever seen - you can pick a perfect shade but within minutes it will appear orange on your skin. It sits in pores and highlights fine lines. Awful, awful stuff.

I tried Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue on a whim and I absolutely love it. It's got far better coverage and glow then the LM stuff. It's not cheap but it's worth it IMO.

And always apply tinted moisturiser with a slightly damp beauty blender - it gives a lovely, dewy finish.

Zengarden001 · 18/06/2020 09:31

@weareyoung yikes! I'll avoid the LM one then.

weareyoung · 18/06/2020 09:40

@Zengarden001 I got so cross when they changed the formula as it really used to be amazing.

MrBennsshop · 18/06/2020 11:00

Sorry to read they've changed the LM formula, haven't used it for a while so that's saved me wasting money, thank you.

BorsetshireBlueBalls · 18/06/2020 15:14

Ooh, when did they change it? I haven't noticed orange skin hues or sore eyes with my current tube. Perhaps I should ask my nearest and dearest if I look like Donald Trump, though? I don't actually like that 'dewy' look on me, I prefer matt but without heaviness, (but still a bit of cover) hence my preference for the oil-free option on LM. Hmm, what now then? back to the drawing board.

weareyoung · 18/06/2020 18:01

IIRC they changed it around autumn last year.

Bananaman123 · 18/06/2020 18:24

I love the nars and it is pricey but its lasted a whole year for me as only need a little and its so lightweight
