Hooded eyes, sagging skin

This has been bothering me for a good few years now and I feel like it's really beginning to impact on my self esteem. I'm seriously considering blepharoplasty.

I feel like I always look tired due to hooded, puffy eyes and there's no point in putting eye makeup on because you either can't see it or the make up smudges quickly due to the skin fold on my upper eyelids.

I'm in my late 20s so this sagging skin isn't due to ageing. I'm a white Caucasian female.

I suppose I just want to know- does anyone else have hooded eyes that bother them?

Before anyone flames me, I know that diversity is beautiful and if we all looked the same the world would be so dull. I know I should get a grip but I'm really struggling to feel good at the moment.

I'm also well aware that there are significantly more pressing issues in the word right now. I just wanted to see if anyone feels the same about their eyelids?

I also have hooded eyes and have been considering surgery- I'm 35. My mum had the surgery late 40's/early 50s, my Dad also has hooded eyelids. I reckon there's a 95% chance I will get it done.
I agree it is a pain, I never see the point in eyeshadow, no one can see it! And can end up with mascara on the hoods, or eyeliner transfers onto the top of my eyelids- so annoying.

Maisy24 · 16/06/2020 22:23

You can buy eyelid stickers online from eBay it amazon, I really do recommend them as a quick fix. If you wear them enough it will re-crease your eyelid so they aren't as hooded.

It is very annoying having hooded eyes, myself and my mum are always complaining about them.

I'm similar, late 20s and I don't bother with eyeshadow at all, mascara is a nightmare!

White eye liner can make your eyes look wider, also instead of putting eye shadow on your eyelids just put some highlighter on the brow bone. This makes me look more "awake".

My eyes go puffy if I've got a migraine, if I'm tired it's really obvious. You could try a eye cooler roller gel morning and night to see if that helps reduce any puffiness.

I will probably have some type of surgery when I age!

Had mine done in my late 30s and my only regret is that I didn't do it earlier. Mine were also always hooded, not sagging due to age. Super easy surgery and recovery, no pain. I look so much fresher and can finally use eyeshadow and liners.

I had blepharoplasty in my forties, best thing i ever did,
I had always had baggy eyes and was really self conscious about them
The operation doesn't take long and you might be quite bruised for about a week then stitches out and the result is well worth it
It does make a big difference to how you feel .and the self confidence it gives you is worth it

princessTiasmum · 16/06/2020 22:48

Meant to add it wasn't painful at all,and lovely to be able to put eyeshadow on

Maisy24 · 16/06/2020 22:52

To everyone that has had the surgery, would you mind saying how much it cost? I would love it, but not a clue on cost?

Grumpetvoluntary · 16/06/2020 22:54

Thank you all for replying, it's so nice to know I'm not alone!

It's always a dead giveaway whenever I'm tired or have a cold because my eyes go even more puffy than usual!

I've definitely got my dad's eye genes!

To those who have had surgery- my main worry is that they will take too much skin and I won't be able to close my eyes properly. I'm a healthcare professional and have seen patients who have had problems with closing their eyes after eyelid surgery (not for cosmetic reasons though) and am terrified of this happening. Did you mention this concern to your surgeons and if so what did they say?

Really intrigued by this post have been thinking the same and one eye is slightly worse than the other which is making me very self conscious

KatharinaRosalie · 16/06/2020 23:17

I had mine done abroad, paid 1200 EUR (upper lids only)

MoltonSilver · 16/06/2020 23:38

Mine are the same and I'm also afraid to have the surgery because there's no going back once it's done. I saw it done on a TV makeover and wasnt impressed. She looked like a completely different person after. I just want something subtle that will leave me looking and feeling more awake. Mascara is the only eye make up there's any point in me wearing. I tend to wear strong lipstick for a focal point.

FlibbertyGiblets · 16/06/2020 23:41

Would botox lift brows to achieve the same effect? might be asking for a friend

KatharinaRosalie · 17/06/2020 10:44

Brow lift could probably work if your skin is sagging and brows no longer as high as they used to be. On younger people IMO the brows look unnaturally high and you will get a constant surprised look. I didn't have any complaints about the height of my brows, so was not something I considered.

princessTiasmum · 17/06/2020 20:36

Mine was years ago and cost £1.500 but about #33000 now i think, but you need to ask around, and try to get recommendations

princessTiasmum · 17/06/2020 20:41

Oops, sorry computer froze it should say £3000

BlackSwan · 18/06/2020 00:51

I had cosmetic eye surgery yesterday (yes in lockdown) and I’m already happy with the result. I wish I had done it sooner. I’m in London - if you want details I’ll PM you

Lauren850 · 27/06/2020 14:27

Yes please Blackswan I'd love the name of your surgeon. How's it shaping up btw?
