Sensitive face any suggestions

I have never really worn make up or had a skincare routine but I'm getting older, and noticing it, so am
making an effort.

I've upped my water drinking to start but also started cleanse/tone/moisturise again.

Except my face is feeling uncomfy. I have rosacea so went for the Simple products that said they were sensitive but I don't think they are agreeing with me. I also tried the Rimmel BB cream but that was even worse.

Can anyone recommend anything super duper sensitive that can look after my skin without the flare. Both for cleansing and for coverage.

I haven't got a huge budget but could probably push to mid range.

Thanks

Bioderma Sensibio micellar water was a game changer for my sensitive rosacea skin. Use it on cotton pads to wipe skin clean in the evenings and remove makeup if necessary. I also get on well with La Roche Posay, I'm a bit spot prone and the effaclar duo sorts that out and I like the effaclar face wash in the shower. Ive also just started with the Timelesss Vit C face serum and that's making a very nice difference to texture and tone. Moisturizers I find tricky as they tend to start to clog my pores and flare the rosacea after a while, but am using the glossier one and bubblewrap eye cream and that's been ok, although I might try something different next time. I'm also thinking of trying a retinol type product soon for nights, but havent decided which one yet. HTH!

That's really useful. Thank you so much for replying. My face just feels red hot at the moment after trying the Simple stuff again today.

It's expensive but The Comfort Zone Sublime Skin Essence has been a game changer for my sensitive and rosacea prone skin. It's a clear light serum which I initially received in a tiny bottle as a free sample last year. I wasn't expecting much to be honest, but oh my, it has really soothes, calmed and reduced the reactive nature of my skin.

Thanks @ChequerBoard so you find using that your skin tolerates make up better?

Curel is a fantastic line. It’s not cheap - but it lasts forever!
Boots have it.
I also love the Timeless vitC.
I follow a very simple routine.
Cleanse gently / moisturise
VitC in the morning.
Retin A at night
Ample SPF
You don’t need anything more.
In fact if you find a tinted sunscreen that works for your skin type / you can probably do without foundation anyway! :)

La Roche Posay Toleriane range. They also have one for rosacea prone skin.

Simple is renowned for irritating truly sensitive skin.

@thecanterburywhales i am learning this to my cost. Their packaging is nonsense!

Thanks Canterbury and Without. I'm making a list of all the recommendations and am going to do some shopping!

@GeraltOfRivia - yes, my skin is tolerating everything much better full stop and my level of redness is greatly reduced.

Other good products I have found are Skinceuticals Phyto Correct serum, Redness Neutraliser and their Phyto Correct Mask. The mask is a favourite, again really soothing and calming.

GeraltOfRivia · 16/06/2020 15:41

Ok - I am going to try the La Roche line for Rosacia and see how we go. I will report back in case anyone googles and gets this thread!
