If you have breast implants, I have questions!

Wasn't sure where to post this so apologies if this isn't the right place!

I want breast implants but don't really know where to start. If you have implants...

What material did you go for (saline, silicone, etc.)?
Under or over muscle?
Which shape?
Anything you would change if you could do it again?

Any other advice would be greatly appreciated too!

Watching the thread as I want to have implants too!

May I just ask, can the nipple die from having the surgery done or is that only if they need to move it for whatever reason?

sekactao · 16/06/2020 23:59

The nipple only dies if the blood flow is cut off. I would have thought that highly unlikely with a simple breast augmentation. More likely if it has to be moved for a reduction or uplift.

@sekactao Thankyou. I have raynauds syndrome and sometimes my nipples are effected so it's the only thing putting me off because knowing my luck they'll be ruined.

Mine are 25 yrs old this year. It was a spur of the moment decision, I picked an advert in the back of Cosmo, had the sales spiel and a week later they were done. I’m truly grateful that they’ve never given me any issues really. They’re over the muscle silicone and didn’t take long to recover from although the loss of nipple sensation was a real shame. I breastfed 3 babies no problem but have never really liked them being touched by my husband. A couple of years ago I was having some discomfort and got them checked but turned out to be menopause and the breast consultant said leave well alone so I have.

I do regret having them done and wouldn’t have them done again but I’ve been pretty lucky.

I don't think a loss of nipple sensation is a given. Mine are fine.

I had under the muscle, teardrop shaped implants after childbirth. I went from 32A (C pre-childbirth) to 32D. I had excess skin after breast feeding, so needed to go to that size to refill them. I was delighted with them, recovered fairly quickly and no real problems.

They're 15 years' old now and I have developed capsular contracture but no leaks. They look fine not misshapen or deformed , but a bit TOO perky now ( thanks to the contracture) and I have to be careful not to have an overt cleavage. I'm toying with replacing them, but I think ideally I'd like to be smaller and that involves moving the nipples and bigger scars, so I'm hesitant.

I lost sensation in one nipple following surgery.

No one has mentioned that if you get them over the muscle the mammograms you receive after 50 will not be able to detect potential breast cancer. That was a major factor to me when I had mine done. Definitely worth considering
