Ultra Fine Thin Hair Help

I have incredibly fine, thin hair. It's curly/wavy too.
My kids have nicknamed me Einstein.

I've tried so many products and styles but nothing works or suits me. It looks best really short, but I have a big square face, so I look very masculine.

I'd love to have it long, but it breaks when it's around 6 inches.

It's currently chin length and a complete mess. I need help.

I've tried all the usual frizz ease products including weightless products that make it more frizzy.

Curly girl didn't work, it looked like I'd rubbed my scalp with butter.

So it needs washed daily, I use baby shampoo or silicone free products.

Anyone have any idea what I can use?

What’s your budget? Could you afford volume extensions? They’re expensive but have made all the difference to my very fine hair.

Oh, I have really fine hair too, that's got finer as I've got older. I hate it, would give almost anything to have fabulous hair.

I used to use volumising shampoo and conditioner, but I've changed approach and would rather the hair I do have be stronger, so I've switched to a keratin shampoo and conditioner and I really like it.

As I have had noticeable thinning as I've got older, I've also started using women's minoxidil to try and stimulate some regrow this and I think that's helping also.

Regrowth, even!

SpeedofaSloth · 14/06/2020 20:22

I have just started to use Watermans Grow Me shampoo and the matching conditioner and I can't quite believe how much difference it has made (they aren't paying me, honest).

SpeedofaSloth · 14/06/2020 20:23

I also use minoxidil. Annoyingly the men's version is often cheaper, the only difference is women should use it once a day, not twice as per the box.

OneBigMother · 14/06/2020 20:30

Oh thanks.

I don't mind spending a bit on products, but I don't think I'd want extensions. I'm not a fan of going to the hairdresser.

I'll try the minoxidil. My hair is thinning with age too.

I'll look up the Waterman's shampoo too.

Thanks

Your hair sounds like mine. I tried countless volumizing/thickening products, tools you name in. A few months ago, I bit the bullet and bought a hair topper. Its fantastic. I have full, swishy, thick hair and I get lots of compliments. Haven't worn it so much during lockdown, but I can't recommend it enough and wish I'd done it sooner.

Tape in extension will solve your problem in under an hour at the hairdressers, they are specifically designed for people with fine hair who can’t take the weight of normal extensions, they are easy to look after, and you walk out the salon with swishy hair, they are a game changer.

Josephinah · 14/06/2020 21:20

Bradley can I ask where you got your topper?

BradleyCooperwillbemine · 15/06/2020 07:04

I bought mine from The Wig Shop in Bolton. Nicola the owner is fantastic and incredibly helpful. I did lots of looking on line, e.g. Simply Wigs, but finding a shop where you can try on is essential initially. There are loads of videos on You Tube to give you an idea of what they look like and colours, but seeing them in the flesh is best.

Thanks! Although the in the flesh thing just put an image in my head. Norman bates Grin

I have a combination of breakage & stress hair loss. I have just started using Regaine (minoxidil). Has anyone seen results yet?

Thanks for the information re the lack of difference between the male & female products!
