Has anybody bought clothes from Sainsbury’s?

I need to get dc some summer clothes so have been looking around at various online options.

Now I keep getting adverts for ladies clothes from Sainsbury’s popping up and I quite like the look of some of them!

What’s the quality like and are they true to size?

I might treat myself I’d the reports are good!

The premium range is excellent value.

The baby and young children stuff is really good, I've bought a lot for the kids over the years.
The women's underwear and sleepwear is good.
However I think I've donated about all the women's clothes I bought and I've given up buying for myself there. The jeans and jeggings went out of shape, a skirt had a zip that broke, a pair of trousers had a really uncomfortable waistband.
Perhaps not cut to my body shape as well, I never find anything that sits right, there is always something a bit wrong with the way the clothes hang.
I don't find the womenswear quality particularly better than Primark. For the same price, I much prefer H&M's designs and styles.

I like looking at their range. I have bought full brief knickers recently, for the time of the month times. Unfortunately, after a few months, the outer 'lace' part (not delicate, kind of like a cotton designed frill), has already come away. And I threw one pair away out of a bag of 4?/5?
I like the knickers with the pretty looking cotton lace edge for the big pants as they are so unsexy, but the quality of these is questionable.
Otherwise, a good thing about them is that the knicker fabric is very soft.
Years ago, I tried their bras - no good. Unshapely, the lightly padded ones.

I get my work summer dresses form there. They are good value. I go a size smaller.

Elephantonascooter · 09/06/2020 05:48

A lot of people as if Im wearing joules clothes, the answer is always "no its sainsburys"! Bloody love them

blueskys72 · 09/06/2020 06:38

I occasionally go a size smaller, but I find the sleeves tight around the tops of my arms. Pricing can be weird - I got a skirt reduced to £4 in one store but it was still £16 in another!

BobbinThreadbare123 · 09/06/2020 07:24

I get quite a lot of work clothes from there. I've had some really nice linen things in the past which are still going strong. The stuff washes well. Also, if I've bought something in their sale I won't cry if it gets damaged at work (like I would if I was able to cough up for Hobbs...). The only stuff I don't rate is their underwear - knickers I've had were crap compared to M&S and their socks are too thin.
I do have a winter coat from Tu, must be nearly 10 years old and it looks like new. I get a lot of compliments on it because it looks like it's from Warehouse instead!

MinesaPinot · 09/06/2020 11:35

I've bought a lot from Tu. My favourite skinnies are from there. Their summer stuff is good, particularly their swimwear. Agree about the Tu Premium range - very good value - in fact the last time I went to Royal Ascot my dress was from there. I think they are the best out of the supermarket ranges.

spongedog · 09/06/2020 11:43

I also buy womens clothes and childrens clothes from TU. I have a lovely showerproof rain mac which has a Boden feel to it. Lots of compliments on that. I also have a lovely cotton summer dress - worn that to my last 3 interviews as it looks professional and smart. Neither was as much as £20.

I dont find the sizing large like others.

Bioprepper · 09/06/2020 15:32

I work from home but I buy quite a lot of blouses and cardigans for when I need to go to meetings and they are always good quality. Last week I bought a lovely short sleeved jumper and it was super soft and cosy. It’s just been washed today and is still soft and cosy. Can’t fault them.

ChubbyPigeon · 09/06/2020 15:39

I really like their clothes

I find theyre much better quality than primark/h&m. Better than current M&S but not as good as more expensive high street brands, for the price nice qaulity.

I find their tops bigger than their bottoms. Their bottoms are more true to size while the tops if you are on the lower end of a size bracket Id size down.

Longdistance · 09/06/2020 15:51

The TU range is brilliant. Even better when it’s 25% off. I’ve found some real bargains and decent too. I bagged a work suit jacket for £6 and a T-shirt with frills on the sleeve for dd in the sale rack for 69p.
The quality is really good. Love the kids leggings.
When dds were babies they wore TU babygros and vests. They lasted ages.

BobbinThreadbare123 · 09/06/2020 15:54

Yeah I'd go with that on the tops vs bottoms. I always need the size I am in trousers/skirts but I get a size below in the tops, despite being top heavy.

1forsorrow · 09/06/2020 15:57

I find their stuff pretty good with the bonus that their trousers in regular are exactly the right length for me.

1forsorrow · 09/06/2020 16:01

When they have an onlne sale you can get stuff really cheaply. May be worth having a look to try them out.

Horseshoe5 · 09/06/2020 16:03

Apparently the clothes from TU and Next are the same, so l was told by a lady at Sainburys.

GameSetMatch · 09/06/2020 16:17

Sainsbury’s trousers and jeans are really short, I’m only 5’7 but find them far too short, I have a few summer dresses that are ok just cheap and cheerful for around the house.

BobbinThreadbare123 · 09/06/2020 16:44

I'm also 5'7" and I have to get the long length keks from Tu, especially jeans. I also find Next trousers to be absurdly short.

1forsorrow · 09/06/2020 16:46

I'm 5'4" and the regular length is perfect for me, most places the short ones are too short and the regular are too long.

StCharlotte · 09/06/2020 16:51

I don't shop there now (as I don't live near one now) but I used to buy loads from there. I have one top which is probably a decade old. Still love it.

SuggestiveBiscuit · 09/06/2020 16:52

I buy a few things from them but I find the sizing odd. I’m 5’5” and size 10 and had to buy a size 14 tshirt and I could have done with a 16 really. But I wanted it because it was a great basic item at a great price.

My daughter wears their pjs. She’s 11 and I’m an age 13 clothes and their adult 8 is good for her.

I always look and sometimes buy!

AriettyHomily · 09/06/2020 16:53

It's hit and miss as to whther they have stuff I like, but anything I have had has been great, I get quite a few work dresses there and gym wear is really good.

I find the sizing is generous, very generous. I'm a good 16 and most things I need a 14.

Kids used to be nearly head to toe when they were younger but the selection isn't so great now they are older.

MinesaPinot · 09/06/2020 17:18

Seconding their gym wear. Fab for the price - washes well and not see through.

GingerBeverage · 09/06/2020 19:07

They do charge for postal returns.

Alsohuman · 09/06/2020 19:15

Which is why you return them to Argos.
