Mine are navy and grey, they form the base of my wardrobe. I find black a bit harsh, and all shades of brown make me look sallow. I have fair skin, blue-grey eyes, and reddish brown hair.

Grow out the highlights them decide what you want to do. You can always go back to highlights. I grew my colour out on the basis that if I hated it or it looked weird I could always colour it again.

@lindyloo57

Use your natural colour as a baseline and get some scattered high lights in the blonde you've always had. They say to dye your hair lighter for people who have been dying it darker for years. It's meant to be slightly lighter than your natural colour

lindyloo57 · 08/06/2020 19:13

@3littlemonkeyz my natural colour is mousey brown was a blonde child, went darker around 6 or 7, I want to stop having highlights as I noticed my hair on the new growth parts, it was done last in January, is in lovely condition and would like all my hair to feel the same, and want to stop bleaching my hair, I think will do as someone suggested grow it out and see how I feel.

@GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal strange isn’t it! This is why I never follow those ‘rules’ of what colours etc you should wear based on things like eye/hair colour. I just try and look at what colours make me look best but also when I get compliments. For me it’s undoubtedly when I wear orangey/rusty colours.

cravingthelook · 08/06/2020 19:46

Black, khaki and blush for me. I actually get told that black really works on me.

pinktaxi · 08/06/2020 19:54

beige, mustard, ivory and cream.

Interesting combinations here that I hadn't thought of and feeling inspired to try them. I see so many pictures online of different colors used a base/neutral that I never would have thought of, and it looks brilliant. Whenever I try it I feel like a clown. I especially have a lot of trouble with the tights. I have tights of all colours of the rainbow gathering dust in my drawers Sad

For example I saw someone in a pink dress wearing green belt/tights/jacket etc. It was a complete contrast to her dress and her dress didn't have any green in it all but it looked gorgeous. I don't think I would ever even think of adding a random colour.

If black makes you happy though, that makes me happy! I feel like you can spot people who are happy in their clothes from a mile away. Unfortunately the women in my family/life all wear black to "hide" something or another that doesn't need to be hidden. And that is so sad imo, life is way too short to wear clothes you don't love!

To the tons of people who wear Navy/gray, would you mind describing an example or maybe posting a picture of how you would wear those two colors in one outfit? I have tons of Pinterest boards and Instagram favourites but they feel so different than what is actually comfy to wear in real life.

Agreed @Nixee2231

I wear a lot of black but I have a blush suede biker jacket and honestly it just lifts anything, one of the best purchases I've ever made.

XingMing · 08/06/2020 21:20

@Pinktaxi, I can't imagine how neat and tidy that requires!

JessicaDay · 08/06/2020 22:39

Black, dark denim, coffee brown, white, leopard, snakeskin, army green/khaki, golden beige, dusky pink and breton stripe.

pinktaxi · 09/06/2020 09:17

@XingMing. I’ve given up spaghetti bolognese, that’s for sure!

Medium brown hair with gold tones to it, grey-green eyes. Washed-out black, navy, charcoal, dark or olive green, tan, any blues but especially deep tones suit me. Ordinary black is fine but neither up nor down. Light grey doesn’t really suit me but if I wear pink or peach blusher is fine. Pale pink, beige, pastel tones in general make me look awful.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 09/06/2020 16:48

Grey and blues but not pastel
Black, White and Beige all drain colour from my face
Although I've Dark hair and eyes, I'm pale skinned

Karmatime · 10/06/2020 06:59

My wardrobe is nearly all grey, blue, black and white though the colour that seems to suit me best is teal. I have dark hair and eyes and a fairly cool skin tone I think.

Fozzleyplum · 10/06/2020 07:52

Mine are chocolate brown and olive green. I do have some black, but very little, as I find it a bit flat, and I never wear the "black trousers/ skirt with coloured top" combination except occasionally as part of a suit for formal workwear. My colouring would be described as Autumn in the seasonal classification - light chestnut hair, mid to dark brown eyes and warm skin tone.
