Has anyone had any dealings with these? I've got very wonky teeth and desperate to try something although I'm skint but can afford monthly payments. I did the impressions and ordered them along with tooth whitening and sent an initial payment of £199.

Since this I have been on Facebook something I should of done in the first place and read all the complaints as well as how the whitening kit didn't arrive. I've just been on live chat and queried this and they told me no I won't receive this as I am outside of USA so I cancelled my order before it went any further and they have told me my payment will be refunded.

I'm hoping I will get my refund and that I don't have to chase them. Feel so stupid I didn't see Facebook before.

I looked into it but 3d scan is so much better and the reviews of smile direct and smile direct club arent great. Im waiting for dentists to open up to have them done at an actual ortho or dentist because i dont want to mess up my teeth. Buy cheap buy twice. You could get credit card 0% balance to fund it if cost is an issue.

I am halfway through treatment with smile direct, but I booked at one of their centres and had the 3D scan (and got the tooth whitening kit). I’m on brace 11 out of 36 and my teeth are already noticeably better

Why why why would you ever mess with your teeth?
I'm a dentist. If you are going to get your teeth moved then speak to an actual orthodontist first. In person. Someone who has the correct qualifications, that can check your teeth for caries, gum problems etc before commencing treatment.
Most orthodontists would let you pay up gradually as well.

Butterface2020 · 08/06/2020 07:12

Yeah theres no saliva around your teeth when you have the alighners in so they are at a greater risk of getting decay and km not sure the straight line on aligner instead of scalloped is good for your gums.
Its russian rollette with your teeth.

I would go to the best if i wanted cosmetic surgery, teeth straightening is no different.

I'm desperate, my teeth are making me so depressed. I would struggle with bad credit from my past so credit checks would just put me back again. I feel so down and just want a nice smile. I've even considered removing all top teeth for dentures. I thought this would change my life.

I'm now back to square one and £199 down after dreaming of beautiful straight teeth.

I'm 46 years old and all my life I've never been able to smile in a photograph, my confidence is zero.

I'm a dental nurse and wouldn't recommend anyone to use anything over the Internet. I do not see how anyone who isn't trained could possibly take their impressions and know if they are correct or taken a good enough impression for the trays. It's a complete scam.
We do a lot of Invisalign (not everyone is a right candidate for it though) and if you were a good candidate for it. I'd highly recommend Invisalign out of them all. We take payment plans for this not sure if your dentist does it or has payment plans.

I would love nothing more than to do a payment plan and I could afford it but unfortunately my past has resulted me in having a bad credit history so this wouldn't be possible.

With the online option there is no credit check.

I’ve been paying my orthodontist in instalments but I don’t have a formal payment plan so no credit check needed. I know what the total fee is so when I want to pay a bit more towards it I just tell the front desk how much I want to pay. I assume if I don’t pay what’s outstanding once the treatment finishes they will chase me for it! Perhaps your orthodontist will offer a similar arrangement?

I have emailed an orthodontist this morning so waiting for the reply and hopefully an appointment soon.

I have rang SmileDirectClub to make sure they will reimburse me and they have said it's all cancelled and to expect payment within 10 days.

Thanks for all your advice.

I’m with smiledirectclub and it’s fine. Teeth are moving nicely. I did go to an orthodontist and saw my regular dentist before starting though and I’ve seen my regular dentist at three monthly intervals to keep an eye (up until covid). I also went to their clinic and had them do the scan rather than the impressions. Heard good and bad stuff about them but I, like you, felt desperate and didn’t want to fork out for Invisalign. I think their customer service was a bit dodge when they first opened but I’ve heard more positive stuff recently. I contacted them and they responded promptly and satisfactorily. Good luck x

@Siobhan1989

How bad are your teeth to start with? Mine are very crooked at top and some are missing.

@saturdaymorning I thought they were quite bad but my dentist called it ‘mild crowding’ at the bottom... my top teeth were straight apart from one which looked really high up and stuck out - I’m halfway through and it’s come all the way down and pretty much aligned 🙂
