Warm winter jumpers

Planning in advance. We have a very old and cold house, I work from home and I want some lovely warm jumpers. I'm tall and fairly thin.

I like a boring classic Ralph Lauren navy cable knit jumper but they're not very warm! Usually that or a Joules jumper as they hang nicely but they're so thin.

I have a TERRIBLE track record with cashmere 😬

I don't particularly like cardigans but I do live in a Schoffel gillet in winter. I considered a long sleeve one but then panicked maybe I was becoming "Mum in a fleece" 🙈

I have thermals. As I said, house is VERY old and VERY cold.

Working from home in a draughty Victorian house style goes out the window. I have a huge funnel neck hoodie, fingerless gloves, wrist warmers, slippers. As many layers underneath as needed. I also have my desk right by the radiator.

Treat yourself to a plug in heated blanket

I've bought planned ahead and bought some really beautiful jumpers at some heavily reduced prices from Cos, Finisterre and Anthropologie - merino, angora, wool and mix. Sales not on now but know from last year they usually have a final push in the summer. I get items out of season from shops I couldn't normally afford so worth looking out of your normal price range maybe? And don't forget a good trawl of eBay in the summer.

Merino from uniqlo. They are beautifully thin so they layer really well.

Try ski layers. You likely need technical wear. Also a heated throw?

I wear ugg boots (something thick soled if they’re not an option for you) cashmere roll neck, Uniqlo gilet and a cashmere scarf Indoors during cold winters. I think jeans aren’t very warm, avoid those.

Woolovers. The very warmest are the thick cable type fisherman ones. You need pure wool for warmth.

I also picked up a warm All saints men’s polo neck. If you’re tall look in men’s ranges. The early part of lockdown I was working in the garden hut wearing all this, hand knit snood, turtle doves and a Boden fleece hoodie.

&Daughter expensive but worth it. Made in Scotland and Ireland.

Put a long sleeve thermal under it but heated blankets are great.

Don’t bother with the faux fur though, mines fur and it’s not as soft as you think it would be for that money.

This website is very “older lady” but the pure wool jumpers are lovely. The Shetland is the warmest; I have it I. Glacier blue and will wear it until it falls apart.

The lambs wool wear well too.

I would look at the men's ranges in shops as they can be better made and are usually longer.

I have a roll neck jumper dress that I put layers under, then cosy leggings and thick slipper socks. It is not a glamorous look but does keep me warm!!
