Why is my chin always red? With pic ( I don’t think it’s rosacea)

Ever since I was a teenager I’ve had red skin on my chin. I’ve never got to the bottom of why.

It doesn’t flare or change; it’s just always there. Not influenced by heat, food, alcohol etc.

The skin isn’t bumpy as such (and again that never changes which is one reason I thought no for rosacea). Though clearly the texture isn’t great at all Sad

The skin looks congested. Also around my nose, which also has redness. I’m oily in those areas and have been spotty for long periods of my life on my chin (polycstic ovaries)

I never know if I’m treating those areas too harshly in an attempt to get rid of the congestion and that’s not helping with the redness. I do like my skincare and have ALL the glycolics, retinols, you name it.

I’m crazily pale - is it just red veins showing through? Do I need one of those LED light mask things?

Or could it be rosacea?

Mine is the exact same! Always slight redness on my chin and around my nose, with no known cause! I am also ridiculously pale, so I think it's a pale thing.

Luckily it covers easily with makeup, but I'm very self conscious about it otherwise.

Me too 😩

largeprintagathachristie · 29/05/2020 19:25

Oh no! Maybe it's just a pale thing. A sort of translucency Sad

Translucency in a bad way ...

I’ve found my people!!! I have this too and it’s always wound me up! I’m very pale too if that helps

lucindalovescats · 29/05/2020 20:34

Me too but I do suffer with Rosacea.

isabellerossignol · 29/05/2020 20:34

I have a triangle of red skin from the sides of my nose down over my chin and the doctor diagnosed perioral dermatitis. Could it be that? I took a long dose of antibiotics which helped.

isabellerossignol · 29/05/2020 20:34

I'm also very very pale.

largeprintagathachristie · 29/05/2020 21:58

@isabellerossignol

Looking up perioral dermatitis, thanks.
I don’t think it’s that but would be good to rule it in or out.

(My phone just tried to autocorrect perIoral to perineum!)

I'm really pale and I have this. More my nose than my chin.

TeaAndStrumpets · 30/05/2020 10:36

Yes me too, just on my nose. I spent years using concealer but now I just live with it. I tell myself it doesn't look too bad from a distance. However my stupid legs are flawlessly pale all year round Confused

I blame my Irish ancestors!

From my experience, this is how rosacea starts. Mine really ramped up in my forties and has now calmed down in my fifties. From what I have read, rosacea starts really early - e.g. blushing as a child, flushing when you go out for a curry or drinking etc. There is a good rosacea website, don't know how to link, but I would read up, as GPs aren't always that helpful. Also rosacea prone skins generally hate too many products - serums/acids etc. You need to strip it right back to the most simple cleanser and moisturiser with no fragrance and not much else. I used to love using high end products, but can't use any of them, which is sad, but I do save a fortune.

I have the same and I'm very pale skin.Must be a pale thing!

Wow! This looks exactly like my skin…anyone ever have any luck as to what the “problem” might be and how to help reduce redness and inflammation?
