If you don't wear uniform to work

Do you have two sets of clothes, work and off work, does this include shoes, coats?

Do you move clothes around after a while and would you move off work to work, or work to off work?

I have two sets, things get 'demoted' from off work to work if it's something I can wear to work. I wear the same shoes, boots, coats and cardigans and obviously tights and underwear, but nothing else mixes.

When you buy do you decide what wardrobe it is going in when you buy? Obviously only if it's allowed for work.

In my current job, my work wardrobe is separate to my 'play' wardrobe. I work in a bank where office dress (when we're not wfh) is very conservative and formal so not the kind of clothes you would choose to wear outside of work (unless you're going to a funeral perhaps!) The only crossover is some accessories (usually a distinct piece of jewellery or silk scarf etc) and occasionally a winter coat or trench coat.

However, in my previous job it was much more relaxed so I didn't really need a separate wardrobe for work. I just mixed and matched and loved every second of it. I really miss being able to do this.

I have dresses I wear to work but they double up as semi smart dresses when I need to attend non work evening functions (or did with exh's work). I also wear to church sometimes if I'm on duty

No, Im long term wfh and just wear what I would wear at home. Harem, chinos, jeans tshirts, sweatshirts, jumpers and scarves. I do have a formal blazer for meetings and interviews.

I am now WFH full time but had Dress for your Day code at work. So some work shift dresses.

I was so excited to put the ‘work clothes’ and the jackets into another See Ya wardrobe. All my work meetings will be ‘open neck’ from now on and so my home wardrobe will basically be my work wardrobe.

Apparently M&S have hardly sold any ties at all since the start of March.

I work in a school so have a self set uniform of black tops/tunics and leggings.

I wear the same shoes etc as I do not at work.

Work has become somewhat more casual in recent years - so instead of jacket and skirt suits a lot, I am wearing dresses, or my self-styled winter "uniform" is black trousers and a range of different colours of the M&S ribbed polo neck jumper with different necklaces and scarves for further interest. I have decent but comfortable black flat shoes for most days, but a lot of heels for dresses and some formal boots too.

Off work involves a lot of outdoors wear - hiking, sailing, able to get wet or muddy gear, gym gear etc. Almost none of which is wearable in work. Except occasionally 1 pair of hiking shoes (not boots) that can be worn on casual Fridays (which is not a formal thing in our office, but I do it and no one bothers worrying about it). I do wear the same jeans for casual Fridays and off work wear, but there are some jeans that are not smart enough for work.

For work purposes, I still have a long wool winter coat, but mostly use a below knee length Ilse Jacobsen raincoat as I commute by train from a sea-front station, so need protection from wind and rain that is also smart enough.

Non work, I have the long wool coat for formal events, and a couple of different casual jackets for different purposes (just wind, just rain, wind and rain, very cold, ….) and seasons, some of which can be layered. Hiking boots, hiking shoes, deck shoes, sailing boots, waterproof sandals, birkenstocks…

Up to last week, I was still wearing the polo necks as the room I work in faces north at home, so chilled when you sit for hours. But pairing with jeans. (And slippers). This week I have actually relaxed it further, today is warm so a proper summery tshirt and shorts. I need to get some new casual and smart casual items though when the shops reopen.

I tend to buy seperates for occasions and reware them less formally for work. I tend to just wear jeans and a tee out of work. Ill be working from home for the forseable so anything i buy will need to be comfy and suitable for video calls.
