Hardly surprising, always shocked at the mark up on their stock.
Good to have the heads up for people to redeem and gift vouchers.

Very sorry for those losing their jobs, but personally will not miss them

MulberryPeony · 28/05/2020 17:12

I have had my eye on a few pieces this year but they were only ever in stock in my size when the price went back up! Bought a lot of kids clothes from them over the years. It’s a shame as they could have modified to fill the Oasis gap quite nicely. Suppose they still could, fingers crossed.

Haven't they been teetering on the edge for ages? It's 20% off every other weekend and 50% sale most months.

PickAChew · 28/05/2020 17:15

Not surprised. Another store that went from nice fabrics to polyester everything.

sawollya · 28/05/2020 17:16

Oasis gone, warehouse gone, now monsoon??
Where will i buy clothes 🤔😮

peachypetite · 28/05/2020 17:19

Their quality has gone massively downhill, a shame.

MotorwayDiva · 28/05/2020 17:20

Well if lockdown eating continues I won't be able to fit in monsoon clothes anymore

MilkTwoSugarsThanks · 28/05/2020 17:25

I think they lost sight of their place years ago tbh. Lockdown may have brought it forward, but I couldn't really see them lasting much longer.

stayathomer · 28/05/2020 17:26

We were talking about this the other day, wondering how many clothes shops will survive, especially since here in Ireland any time people ask about clothes shops the consensus is that tug hey dont know when th eff yll open and it'll be in the last phase

stayathomer · 28/05/2020 17:27

They dont know when they'll open. Sorry!!

GCAcademic · 28/05/2020 17:27

Not surprised. Another store that went from nice fabrics to polyester everything.

^This. I always used to buy all my summer clothes from Monsoon (years ago now), but sweating away in synthetic fabrics has no appeal.

Rainbowshine · 28/05/2020 17:28

I thought they would go under a while back. Their stores seemed to be permanently in Sale mode with racks tightly packed with awful items and the quality was considerably poor for the price. It used to be an accessible boutique style shopping experience but the last few years it’s not really been somewhere I enjoyed shopping.

thatsallineed · 28/05/2020 17:29

Oh that's a shame, I hope they find a way to continue trading. I always spent a fair amount of time (and money) in the Accessorize at Kings Cross station.

wiltingflower · 28/05/2020 17:33

They used to be absolutely amazing and then something changed from around 2010 to 2013 onwards in my opinion, quality and style just went down. I still love the store but not as much as I used to. A real shame about them going under.

Lurkingforawhile · 28/05/2020 17:33

That's a real shame for those working there, especially as we're only a couple of weeks away from shops reopening. I ordered monsoon sale coat a couple of months ago. Colour and fabric lovely but cut and fit was strange. Glad I returned it straight away now.

OhTheseSummerNiiiiights · 28/05/2020 17:35

I always like a mooch around Accessorize. What a shame. They have all the airport concessions as well.

Monsoon was too Per-Una-lite for me.

PicsInRed · 28/05/2020 17:39

That's a shame. They have some nice dresses and inexpensive accessories ... but they also had a lot of dresses that resembled a bad year12 prom gown and some hideous scarves, bag and earrings. I'm not sure their design and buying strategies were coherent.

Never understood why they were selling cushions and wooden storage chests. Lost their focus.

makingmyway10 · 28/05/2020 17:45

I used to love Monsoon maybe 10 years ago, I bought a lot of clothes from there and when my DDs were small they lived in Monsoon children’s wear, it was so pretty and washed really well.

I stopped wearing it about 6/7 years ago, the quality plummeted. Lots of polyester and cheap finishes. Such a shame, I used to love the colours and fabric and I still have clothes from there that have kept their shape and colour for years.

SundayReilly · 28/05/2020 17:58

My mother was a Monsoon shopper in the 70s when it first opened.
Very Biba type clothes beautiful but pricey.
As a young mum late 1990s I loved it good quality unusual designs.
Like others my DCs wore a lot of Monsoon childrenswear.
Really stopped shopping there as others said about 2011- designs just went a bit odd and fabrics became cheaper but clothes didn't.
Sad but inevitable .
Not much left on the high street.

Rockbird · 28/05/2020 18:04

No no no no no!! I love Accessorise Sad. They've kept me in bags for years!

CadburysTastesVileNow · 28/05/2020 19:30

Accessorisze will survive i reckon, sold off separately, but not Monsoon.

KensalGreen · 28/05/2020 20:43

I never really consider Monsoon for clothes but I’m surprised about the Accessorize side of it - most women I know shop there at least sometimes! Are people buying their inexpensive jewellery elsewhere?

StatisticallyChallenged · 28/05/2020 21:08

Ah balls, I don't get much at all for me but I love their kids clothes. Eldest DD still wears their dresses all the time - unlike their adult stuff they seem to be really good quality too.

BrennieGirl · 28/05/2020 21:23

That's a shame. I remember in the 90s you could always get nice silk dresses and lovely woolies in Monsoon.

I still like the odd thing but the quality doesn't match the price.
