Barefoot in the Rain

Have just returned from the school run where I got caught in a shower while standing around chatting to other mums waiting for DCs to come out. As usual, I had driven to the school barefoot and so got a few "odd looks" from some of the parents as I stood in the rain in just my capris and t-shirt. Just wondering if I am the only barefoot "scrummy" (I wish!) now that summer has gone (did it ever arrive?) - I'm just so much more comfortable without shoes, and can't see the need for them most of the time.

glass? dog poo? don't you worry about stepping on things like that?

belgo · 20/09/2007 16:38

as long as you look where you're going there's nothing wrong with it.

belgo · 20/09/2007 16:39

I'm sure you get a few looks though

Flamesparrow · 20/09/2007 16:40

I got odd looks the one school run I did barefoot too. I tend not to do it much because half of the parents smoke outside the school gates and I really don't wanna stand in that

belgo · 20/09/2007 16:41

certainly saves on shoes.

Hana/FS - it's not a problem providing you keep an eye on where you walk and, worst ways, anything unpleasant can quickly be washed off

Belgo - I'm not worried about the looks, but you certainly get quite a few in the cooler weather especially from the "older generation" (including MIL !)

I tend to go barefoot a lot of the time anywhere else, just not school (the other reason being small children always seem to run me over with scooters )

Opting for cropped jeans and flip flops lately - can't be doing with soggy trouser bottoms.

BarefootShirl · 20/09/2007 18:11

I resort to the flip flops in winter but generally stay barefoot the rest of the year when and where I can get away with it Only wear "proper" shoes for "dressing up" e.g. out to dinner. Fortunately I work part-time in a very relaxed office and therefore am barefoot alomost all day.

I tend to wear short skirts and sandels when it rains - also can't stand wet trouser legs or wet tights.
