Can anyone help with eyeshadow?

Have worn makeup every day for years. I feel like I’ve aged and need to change my eye make up. I need a new eye shadow but don’t know where to start? I’d like an every day eye shadow. I like the dusky pinks I see and bought some as recommended on her last year but none gave the colour I was looking for. There are a billion of MUA types on you tube etc but I can’t wade through them all. Is there an easier/quicker way, or someone specific who i could follow?

You could try Tarte eyeshadow, they’re pallets are very neutral price isn’t too bad and they get great reviews. How old are you? You could follow someone like Nicola Chapman on Instagram. She’s almost 40 and her make up style is very much age suitable.

Urban decay pallettes are great for everyday wear. I prefer a bolder smokey eye look, and favour MAC. I noticed they now have a featureon their website which lets you try it on before you buy virtually. Or if you find one you like, then in a serch engine put in the brand, colour name and the word swatch and look at images for a better idea of colour. No idea about MUA tutorials though.

Approaching 40! I always have my trade mark cat flick with black liquid Eye liner but having issues as I have deep set eyes and the crinkles are making my flicks crooked so I have stopped the flicks whilst on lockdown but would rather not lose them! I have a few pallets but they are glittery and not every day... will have a look at those thanks.

KJH on Instagram is fab
This might help for liner. Basically ignore the crinkles/folds, relax your eye and draw the shape you want and wiggle to get any bits you need to

As for product recommendations, something like the chunky pencils from Charlotte Tilbury are fab. You just scribble on, and soften/buff out edges with finger or brush.

I’ve heard good things about the Glossier eyeshadows and they are very easy to apply. They give a nice, sheer colour.

Benefits small palates are good and have tutorials.

Spied · 25/05/2020 15:15

Just keep away from shimmer and glittery.
I read it is really dating as you mature and tbh I agree.

I don't use palettes or powder eyeshadow any more, I've got Laura Mercier and By Terry eyeshadow pencils which are a nice creamy texture, blend very well and don't settle into any creases. Much easier to touch up when out too.

Judiwench · 25/05/2020 15:37

Oh bareminerals have nice sticks and creams too

Patsypie · 25/05/2020 15:46

I swear by Dior 5 Coleurs sets. They last forever and have a fabulous range of colours. All the colours are useful and go together beautifully so there's never any waste.

Always start with revolution if you're buying stuff to experiment with. I find it to be such good makeup for the money. And I love my expensive makeup! But if I want to experiment I always go for revolution first!
