Retinol, SPF

I’m thinking about jumping on the retinol bandwagon. I have oily skin so use a moisturiser for that (seaweed from body shop). I had acne in my teens and skin still isn’t great but starting to notice lines round my mouth now too. I don’t want to spend a ton of money either though. I’m thinking a 0.3% to start with, what would people recommend? I was going to put it in at night, do I still need an SPF? What type of SPF do people wear? I find anything with a high factor is just horrible on my oily skin and more so with make up over it. I usually wear double wear which is SPF10 but haven’t been during lockdown!

Any pearls of mumsnet wisdom much appreciated!

What are everyone’s thoughts on the Boots No7 1.5% retinol? It seems a high percentage for over the counter?

Oh, it’s bad advertising, I’ve just had another look and actually the retinol is only 0.3%.

I liked the Beauty Pie retinol serum. I’m using the Drunk Elephant one at the moment. It is quite strong too so I only use it a few times a week.

Thanks I second Medik8 they have a really good range of retinol. Their crystal retinal 10 is one of the strongest on the market.

If you get dryness you can buffer with moisturiser first, wait 20 mins, apply the retin 0.5, them moisturise again.
