Hi everyone,

I hope you are all keeping well.

I have very dry curly hair and I am looking for a good shampoo and conditioner to get my hair into better shape.
I've tried so many different ones over the years and I'm usually disappointed. Some of them leave my hair really dry even though they are supposed to be extra moisturising.

If you've had success with certain products i'd love to hear from you.

I use head and shoulders , my hair is very curly and dry and the trick for me is to add curl cream on soaking wet hair otherwise it dries out .

@oohnicevase
Thank you for your reply. What type of curl cream do you use? I use a leave in conditioner as a styling product but I find it greasy although it does the job.

Ive been using lockdown to play about with my hair and get it into better condition. I use Vosene shampoo and Osmo hair mask as a conditioner, leave tiny bit of Osmo through the ends as a leave in conditioner, followed by extraordinary oil and cantu curl cream. It sounds a faff but my hair condition is so much better and holds the curl nicely too.

A tip I was given re condition was to really squelch in lots of conditioner, more than you think you need. The Osmo one comes in a huge tub and lasts me for about 3 months washing my hair every 2/3 days.

I vary it between cantu / umberto gianni and I've bought some boucleme today to try ..

Try the curly girl method - no shampoo, just conditioner.

Only wash your hair every 3-5 days depending on how knotty it gets. So once or twice a week. Use a solid shampoo bar instead of liquid shampoo. The chemicals which cause the foam are what makes your hair dry. You'll notice a huge difference but it might take a few weeks for your hair to adjust.
I only use cruelty-free brands and can recommend Aldi's Lacura products especially their "Aussie" range. Faith in Nature, Kind Natured, Sukin, Shea Moisture and Friendly Soap are all cruelty-free and inexpensive.
Look for products without sulphates, parabens, alcohol, etc.

I really really didn’t get on well with curly girl - my hair felt like chewing gum - so I found a half way house. Someone on another thread posted a video about sulfates and silicones which wasn’t quite so anti as curly girl.

Bottom line I think is that’s curly hair is very trial and error so buy small bottles of whatever until you know it works for you.
