Dressing to suit body shape

No matter how overweight or normal weight I am, I just don't have a waist. Obviously it is better the slimmer I am but a lot of clothes look awful because of my shape. I have quite big boobs also and a reasonably flat stomach so side view I can look relatively shapely but front view is awful and anything that emphasises the need for a waist is terrible.

Has anybody got any advice on what to wear?! Thanks!

Yes I wouldn't mind wearing skirts or dresses if I could sort the middle part!

Is empire style any good? So tight just under your boobs then flares out a bit hiding midsection?
I reckon you want to draw attention to your legs and upper body.
So bright/light colours on your legs, patterns, and darker round your middle, with detailing and embellishments round your neckline, or nice necklace etc to draw attention up. Show off your arms.
You can prob wear shorter styles of skirts to show off your legs, maybe pencil style or straight, but above the knee is good.
Long line cardigans or sleevless long cardigans
V neck or low neck will draw attention up. No horizontal stripes- vertical stripes on your upper half may work well.

I think you're an H shape - the blog I linked to earlier has quite a bit of info - just some here insideoutstyleblog.com/2015/05/body-shape-bible-understanding-how-to-dress-h-shape-bodies.html

There's lots more, with actual examples.

That's really helpful bat - H shape😊

I hope it does help. Once I'd worked out I'm an 8 shape, it made everything much clearer for me!

I suggest looking at the length of the waist, particularly on dresses. I find that having a larger bust, pulls the waistline up, which can make me look like i've added a stone on/and or look like Im going for the busty barmaid look. I've had a couple of dresses made for me and asked them to drop the waist to accommodate, what a difference!

Necklines that work: V neck but not too deep, boat neck and wrap style (but adjusted so they stay in place)

I also, for the same reason go for longer length tops. Anything that is too short, again adds weight as it falls right at the fullest part of the thigh.

The other thing, I do, is take in tops and coats at the sides. To accommodate a larger bust, often means taking a larger size. So by streamlining the sides, I create a waist and look slimmer. I pay a few pounds to my local drycleaners to do this. Nothing expensive but the coats do cost more to do than tops. But with coats, I buy on sale and spend money on making them look more tailored.
