Looking after my skin

I’m 33 and have never had a skincare regime to speak of. I have a few bad habits, such as going to sleep with my makeup on and not drinking enough water.
I am embarking on a weight loss journey, and have a considerable amount to loose which will take between 6-12 months at best. I would like to try improving my skin as I do this so I don’t look old and saggy after weight loss!
How should I be looking after my skin better? And which products should I use? (I prefer brands that I can get in Boots or supermarkets as they’re cheaper and more accessible)
Thanks!

The Superdrug naturally radiant range is pretty good and frequently on offer.

I would start with a basic cleanse and moisturise routine and once your skin settles, look at adding a few targeted if needed.

I like the Boots no 7 ranges.

Also, get a body brush for dry skin brushing. Helps with tone.

I’m 29 and have just started a “proper” skincare routine, after doing some research.

I cleanse at night with The Ordinary range Squalane cleanser and follow it with their Vit C cream on areas with fine lines, and then use a Boots No7 night cream. The Ordinary range is available online (I buy via Cult Beauty who do various discounts) and is inexpensive.

Currently in the morning I give my face a wipe with micellar water, then a toner with retinol, and then use a Clinique sunblock (bought at Boots) which I splashed out on as I hate sunscreen but I know it’s important. Then I use a no7 moisturiser.

So far I’m very happy with the night routine but the morning routine doesn’t leave me feeling very fresh, possibly because of the dreaded sunscreen.

I understand retinol is the only proven product for wrinkles btw, but am barely using it as an breastfeeding currently (which is advised against).
