Any tips for very dry, thick hair with straggly end?

I've got a dry scalp (not dandruff but white dry skin flakes, no itching) along with straw like dry hair full of split ends (I've stopped straightening my hair since getting kerasilk done about 6 months ago) and I use an morrocanoil deep oil conditioner (the one in the bright teal coloured jars) - apply it to dry hair along with morrocanoil treatment oil and then wait an hour or so before washing it out and occasionally lightly shampooing my scalp only with "yes to carrots" dry scalp shampoo.

Then let it air dry, and even oils I apply look like hay with oil smeared on it.

My hair is curly but I can't use stuff like cantu curl creams, etc. as they are often fragranced so give me a headache and acne on my face.

Any suggestions?

First of all I would get it cut to remove the split ends. I know that may not be possible right now, but as soon as you can.

Can you use conditioning masks on your wet/damp hair after washing? And / or a leave in conditioner as it air dries.

Thanks @Chochito I was thinking that too. Annoying thing is I can't use most leave-in conditioners as they give me a headache from how much they're perfumed - I've tried quite a few. I use oil on my hair after washing but it really doesn't help much. One of the main issues I think is that my scalp is naturally very dry so doesn't produce much oil.

Would diet changes help?

Also, if you have very hard water, maybe you can get the attachment for your shower to soften it, and give your hair a clarifying rinse sometimes? (The dryness could be in part down to build up of minerals from hard water).

Saturate ends with coconut oil and let it sit for about an hour or longer, then rinse out (keep it away from the scalp as it will make it greasy). If doing in the tub be careful as the tub can get slippery. My DD does this about once a week, and it helps her dyed hair stay healthy. Apparently olive oil can work too, but I've never tried it. I don't know about the dry scalp, but maybe advocado or egg wash might help? Hope you find something that helps OP.

why do you condition before washing?

I do it sometimes, but I do it because my hair is fine so gets weighed down easily and can get greasy easily.
