Really awful undereye lines

Tobeeornottobee3 · 17/05/2020 13:40

I’m 36 but have realized that the lines under my eyes are just awful, really severe for my age tbh. I’m not at all against Botox but pretty sure it won’t work for these, these are directly under the eyes, when I smiles it like six lines in a row. I also have shadows. I would never get fillers in that area as I know a few Drs who say it’s actually a very risky area re. loss of eye sight or clots etc and it’s makes sense as very valvular and just too near some major veins there so wouldn’t be comfortable with that..
Is there anything else that works at all? Like laser or any good beauty treatment? I know retin a is good but tricky to get and think results could take years.
Re lifestyle I’ve had three kids and years of very , very bad sleep so is there any chance they could recover? I do need to up water intake and I love coffee... but otherwise I am fit and healthy but still have problems with sleep ..I have also found (like many) the last few months very stressful and we have zero downtime , it’s constant everyday with small kids, work etc.
I’m really hoping I can reverse the damage as in all honestly it looks awful. Please help with anything that works?

I'm 39 and the same I'm pretty much line free elsewhere

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 17/05/2020 15:03

Not sure what to suggest...do you use eye cream? I will say that when my daughter was very young I looked much older... when the sleep came back, things improved, and I'm told I don't look my age. Depending on your budget after the Apocalypse, maybe consider CACI facials? They do a bit specifically around your eye, which I think helps mine.

I'm looking into dermapen treatment

Tobeeornottobee3 · 17/05/2020 16:05

I have used Vichy eye cream before but I never know if creams work. I really hope with my kids being youngish it might improve but then I’ll be older so...
Caci is interesting, I’ve heard things but I know it usually takes a few courses which is fine but v expensive, I’d have to have some assurance it works! If anyone had done it let me know?
Do people find their under eye lines vary with the amount of sleep they get?? My youngest is 3 but still wakes once a night but used to be a lot more frequent before (recently) and the second who is now older didn’t sleep properly for years so I am now suffering with insomnia a bit tbh...

Microneedling/Derma rolling is meant to be good and can be done at home with the right kit.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 17/05/2020 18:24

I did the initial Caci course, then I have a top up one every 6 weeks, normally. I don't spend lots on clothes, and keep a focus on how my fizzog looks.

Tobeeornottobee3 · 17/05/2020 19:26

Do you notice a difference @SpongeBobJudgeyPants? And what’s the name of the particular caci treatment ? Also does that mean you can get a treatment every six weeks ? That would be realistic rather than every week ..

Also do people find under eye masks any good ? When I have the energy and time I do find facemasks great for an overall lift for the face but haven’t used specific under eye sheets yet.

Don't fully rule out fillers OP. It is risky yes, but if you go somewhere like the consultant clinic (doctors only clinic) where they use cannulas (safer) and are very good at what they do, complications are rare. Don't go to a beautician.

RozaDiPoza · 18/05/2020 05:44

Fillers, sunglasses

Tobeeornottobee3 · 18/05/2020 11:39

I always wear sunglasses and tbh I’m just too nervous of fillers , even if very rare blindness is one of my biggest fears and just wouldn’t take the risk personally.
I’m going to try and concentrate on getting more sleep and drinking a lot more water everyday and once this madness is over book some caci treatments. I’m always a bit cynical about beauty salon treatments because if they worked why would people get Botox and fillers ? But I’ve only had the very odd facial which while felt lovely really made no more difference than a home face mask. I’m hopefully caci has a solid science behind it ! I also don’t spend much money on clothes or going out but do want to look after my skin.

It's just a CACI facial, but you can add bolt-ons, and I have the eye one. Yes, definitely different. I don't like to think about how far my face is collapsing under lockdown without it. See if you can just pay for one, and you should see an immediate difference, though it won't last for ever. Some people are better at it than others, so you might want to try a couple of people if you go that route. The machine was originally developed to help people who had Bell's palsy drooping, and then they started using it just cosmetically.

NutellaOnButteryToast · 18/05/2020 12:16

Are they just there when you smile, OP?

We're the same age and mine are quite noticeable when I smile, but then I have quite full cheeks, so it sort of pushes it all up.

My issue is more the bagginess, which probably makes my lines more prominent. I don't sleep great, but not as bad as I used to.

I try facial massage for drainage etc, but nothing makes a huge difference.

It might be worth looking into those facials if it really bothers you.

Do you drink plenty of water?

Tobeeornottobee3 · 18/05/2020 13:36

Thank for that info, really helpful @SpongeBobJudgeyPants, I’ll defo check it out post pandemic ( there’s a phrase I’d never thought I’d say..)
Yes NutellaOnButteryToast , very bad when I smile and it’s not crows feet as I kindof like that crinkly side lines , it’s way more baggy , crepy skin underneath the eyes. Still don’t sleep great as a result of years of my body constantly being used to sleep deprivation..
I definitely haven’t been drinking a lot of water recently and my coffee intake and sometimes 🍷 has increased...
