Following . I tried some L'Oréal stuff on my 8 year olds hair the other day and it was rubbish. The blue turned green. And she was so excited. Confused

MyMonkeyIsATwat · 16/05/2020 21:57

Tissue paper!

If you google it it'll show you how to do it.

Disabrie22 · 16/05/2020 22:00

She has very very dark hair so not sure tissue paper will shoe up

I think if you want it to show up you would have to use bleach on it, crazy colour, directions, prevana or LIVE colours are really bright and vibrant
I used to just put it in 2 plaits and tie the bobble really tight at the ends and so they where even and just bleach the ends rinse under the tap and then add colour and rinse again, much easier that way I found rather than having to wash the whole head twice

Manic panic gives quite good results and it fades after a few washes. It’s probably a good shout to try before making a permanent commitment!

SquashedFlyBiscuit · 16/05/2020 22:43

We're thinkibg similar. Is it okay to bleach children's hair. And how? (I dont dye my hair so know nothinf!)

Cosyblanky · 16/05/2020 22:46

Leave your children's hair alone. It's not your job as a parent to fulfil there every whim. When they're old enough to dye their hair themselves, they are old enough to have dyed hair!

NooneElseIsSingingMySong · 16/05/2020 23:21

Squashed I wouldn’t bleach my child’s hair! It’s very strong, can damage hair (trust me, I learned the hard way aged 14). I now only have bleach if I’m getting highlights with my hairdresser who knows what she’s doing!

Cosy it’s just a bit of fun while they’re not at school! DD (7) had her hair purple last week. It lasted about a week. I wouldn’t do anything permanent but I don’t see the harm in something that fades after a few washes.

inwood · 16/05/2020 23:26

Text colour. My kids are pink and I'm purple, they're blond and I'm dark. The dark blue will take enough. It's semi perm, mine has been in 6 weeks and pretty much gone. There's no harsh chemicals in it and it's a been a bit of fun.

Don't make the mistake my friend did with Schwarzkopf Live - it's permanent!

inwood · 16/05/2020 23:26

Ffs. Crazy colour.

Disabrie22 · 16/05/2020 23:30

Obviously I wouldn’t bleach my child’s hair Cosyblanky - she is 8 years old. As a kid growing up in the eighties my mum dyed my hair with sun in at primary school because I asked her too. Maybe not the best move but it certainly didn’t scar me for life. We are better informed now so I was just wondering if there was a semi permanent dye so my child could have a little bit of fun in lockdown. The parenting police are still on patrol -even in the middle of a global pandemic Grin

On very dark hair only spray on or tissue paper will show up. Otherwise you have to bleach it.

ImNotWhoYouThinkIam · 16/05/2020 23:32

Ive bleached both my DS' hair in the past as they are naturally too dark for the crazy colour to take. It did dry their hair out, but we just used a decent conditioner.
DS1 was UV green last year!

WotnoPasta · 16/05/2020 23:47

Following. DD (12) wants her ends doing. It can all be cut off when she goes back to school as her hair is ridiculously long at the moment.

Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese · 17/05/2020 00:02

I've been colouring my hair since I was 8, I'm 30 this year, started with sunin in the 90s.

I would suggest you use Crazy Colour or La Riche Directions, definitely avoid the live colours, I've had an awful time with them. I've used manic panic cotton candy pink and thats good coverage, faded well, cradle cap shampoo cleared it in one wash, I have no experience of their blue though.

BUT unless she is committed to having it for a while or you're willing to cut it out, I wouldn't go blue! It's one colour that sticks around like an unwanted relative at Christmas.

I was blue for 6 months a couple of years ago, I ended up going bright pink because nothing would shift it, my hairdresser refused to strip it as it'd been lighted and bleached so many times.

Gemma2019 · 17/05/2020 00:07

I did my DD's hair last week using a brand called Rebellious Colours, it was quite cheap from Amazon. It looks amazing - we did half turquoise and half flamingo pink. Much more vibrant than I thought it would be.

inwood · 17/05/2020 00:20

You definitely don't need to bleach with a semi as long as the colour is strong enough.

UnicornMadeOfPinkGlitter · 17/05/2020 11:22

Dd is 14 and has mousey brown/dark blonde hair and she currently has pink sections at the side of her face.

I did use a blonde dye on the bits she wanted pink, which was some of the product I was using to dye my hair. And then the pink on top using the live colours. It fades really quickly and she’s redoing it every 4/5 washes but just the pink no more bleach.

A friend of hers has done the same but blue and it’s gone green and stayed a green tinge. She didn’t use the live colours so couldn’t say what she used though. But she’s going to try and redye her whole head as she now has a murky green tinge to her brown hair.

Hoggleludo · 17/05/2020 11:26

We use bleach London (I wouldn't ever dye my kids hair with bleach!!) but they do funky colours. It's semi permanent. My hairdresser recommends them and he won awards with his colour.

My eldest has light blonde hair. So we semi permanent did her hair geeen. Came out very cool

My youngest have very dark hair. We did hers electric purple. That actually came out not too bad

But very very dark hair won't come out well.

I wouldn't bleach it either.

Newcatmum · 17/05/2020 11:29

My 8 year old has dark brown hair and I used an XL Live semi permanent colour cream. Wasn't expecting it to show up but it turned out pretty well.

Dollywilde · 17/05/2020 11:33

Yes to it sticking around! I had my hair blue when I was 17 and I think I got about a month of blue and then 6 months of manky grey (not the type that’s cool nowadays!).

Meanwhile here I am dip dying pink at 31 and I can’t get the damn colour to last for more than 3 washes...
