Does anyone where a human hair wig??

If so, where did you get it from please?

After years of extensions, I’m considering getting a very good, realistic wig (like the one celebs wear) for nights out etc.

I can’t seem to find any companies or anything that do them (reputable ones I mean)

Do wigs make your head hot and/or itchy?

PenfoldsFive · 16/05/2020 18:03

@Tabithha, why do you use castor oil to make your hair thicker, if you then need to wear a wig because it’s too thick to style? Not being snipey, am I missing something?

Endorphins · 16/05/2020 18:06

I’m not keen on that website, they only have about 4 wigs on it, and no shorter ones.

Does anyone have any other wig recommendations?

Tabithha · 16/05/2020 18:09

@MarylandMayhem no they don’t in my experience

Tabithha · 16/05/2020 18:12

@PenfoldsFive because I don’t plan on wearing wigs forever so it’s important I keep my natural hair healthy. That way if it’s a blistering hot day in the summer I can just wear my own hair out should I choose to. If I’m being honest my hair isn’t that bad I’m just not a hair person so to speak. I don’t find it interesting hence why my hair was severely damaged before I started taking care of it. I don’t have the patience to spend thirty minutes to an hour making it look presentable so I see a hairdresser. I also use castor oil for hair growth not just thickness

needsleepz · 16/05/2020 18:21

@Endorphins what sort of system do you have? I ordered some pliers and micro beads and am maintaining my own system until the salon opens. I clicked on this thread as I anticipate needing a wig one day!

Endorphins · 16/05/2020 19:04

Oooh @needsleepz I don’t know if I could manage that but that’s ace that you are able to do that!

I have a full system, I’m with HairSolved.

I’m getting closer and closer to cutting the whole thing off and shaving what hair I have left off, and sticking a wig on instead 😂

I just emailed a place I just found online that looks high quality asking if I can send them pictures of me with and without the system to see what style they advise!

cantthinkofanythingwitty · 16/05/2020 19:12

Thanks @Tabithha

needsleepz · 16/05/2020 19:14

@Endorphins I'm with HairSolved too (Manchester). I can sent you the links to what I bought if you want? I have bought rubbish pliers and the wrong size beads before (years ago). It's not easy to do on yourself and it takes me ages but it's definitely better than nothing.

Have a browse on Instagram for wig makers. Chrissy Bales makes beautiful wigs (some under £500) and also hair by himm.

To previous posters not understanding, as someone with afro hair (don't know about the OP), wigs are used to protect your hair from the stresses of styling. You don't have to have short or damaged hair to wear wigs.

Tabithha · 16/05/2020 19:29

Thank you @Floraflower3 Afro hair can be a pain and requires a lot of patience hence why I prefer to stick a wig on

PenfoldsFive · 16/05/2020 19:50

Thanks @Tabitha. I’ve just disappeared down an internet rabbit hole of castor oil hair treatment. Smile

Wearing a satin/silk wrap on my head at night has made a big difference to the condition of my hair, far less breakage too, no tangles in the morning and as long as hair is dry it doesn't add any kinks or waves.
I was dubious but it really worked for me!
Tried a satin pillowcase but it felt too hot.

GunungBatur · 16/05/2020 21:48

£1.5k! Shock wow. That is serious money.

Flora thanks- I picked up on that after a couple more posts from tabithha.

@Tabithha
Hi Tabitha. How do you use the castor oil?

Tabithha · 17/05/2020 11:41

@agapanthus1979 hi 😊 I mix it with other oils as it’s very thick. I mix it with a little tea tree to help with scalp itching, grape seed oil and jojoba oil. I also add a drop of sweet orange essential oil to mask the smell of the tea tree. I put the mixture in one of those bottles people use for hair dye and I either apply it to my scalp and massage it in the morning so it’s for the whole day to soak in or I use it as a hot oil treatment. When using as a hot oil treatment I put the bottle of mixed oils in some boiling water that’s cooled for a few minutes. Apply the oil to my hair once it’s been heated for about 10 minutes and then I put a shower cap on and leave for an hour. I then wash it out as normal. If you have European hair the hot oil treatment might be the best method as oiling your scalp everyday will weigh your hair down and make it greasy. Hope that helps Smile
