Essential shoe wardrobe

What styles are essential? I almost want to create a capsule shoe wardrobe. Any suggestions for best brands or missing categories would be very helpful. So far I am thinking...

Good sandals - Birkenstock type? Good footbed and a back strap would be ideal.
Plimsolls - canvas style. Any suggestions? Superga any good?
Fashion trainer - probably the most easy as I like Adidas/Nike etc
Sports trainer - again quite easy
Pumps or mules - maybe Toms?
Beach flip flops - won’t need these for a while!
Proper walking shoes - I already have a great pair
Work shoes - one brogue, one court shoe - what would be a stylish but hard wearing brand?
Occasion heels - probably one nude, one black - I like Carvela by Kurt Geiger

I’m early 30s and I do a lot of walking - both on pavements pushing a buggy in my town and in the countryside at the weekend. I have an office based job where I’m expected to be smart and I have a lot of meetings. Thanks!

Ok, here are mine:
Sandals: Sollilas, might not meet the footbed requirement but comfy none the less
Plimsolls: yes Superga
Fashion Trainer: Air Force One Shadow or Adidas superstars. Stan Smiths and Vega will be too close the plimsole look as simple.
Pumps/Mules: don’t have this category personally but see Sollilas again
Beach flipflops: anything simple that catches my eye
Work shoes: Doc Martins black patent shoes rather than brogues but carefully styled. M&S pumps for heals
Occasion heals: louboutins also good for big work meetings but no good for long walks!
Missing category: casual/sports summer sandal such as slides or “dad sandals”. But to be “clashed” with non sports clothes similar to trainers with dresses etc

Are you really going to buy all of these categories? I’ve never thought about my shoes in this way before writing this reply

Ooo thanks this is helpful! Sollilas look great.

Yes probably a it of an odd way to think to some people but I’m bored and sorting through my wardrobe and came up with the idea of a capsule shoe wardrobe. I need to replace some shoes and want to buy less and make them better quality and more flexible.

I have two pairs of trainers, two pairs of knee length boots, two pairs of flat sandals, two pairs of courts - one for work one for occassionwear, one pair of heeled open toe sandals usually with occassionwear. I do also have two pairs of nude heels but they are platformed so I rarely wear them for fear of going flying!

My boots are Marc Jacobs, my trainers and adidas gazelles and ted baker, heels are Steve Madden and Ted baker, and the other probably just hight street fashion stores like Next or the like.

Mine are:

Flat sandals: River Island flat black & gold roman style sandals, Accessorize pearl & diamanté toe thong sandals.

Heeled sandals: (for going out out) River Island nude pink diamanté wedges, River Island nude pink block heels.

Flats: M&S rose gold pointed pumps, Dune nude pink ballet pumps, Quiz silver sparkly pointed pumps

Trainers: white & gold Adidas Superstars, white & dark red Nike Air Force 1s, pale pink suede Puma states

Gym trainers: Nike bright pink & orange
Flip flops: rose gold Havianas, floral from Accessorize

Sensible flat work shoes: black nubuck Clarks Trigenics dolly shoes, sooo comfy but sadly no longer available

Long boots: Black over the knee suedette boots with gold trim from River Island, Black suedette knee high heeled boots from M&S, Brown fake leather knee high from M&S.

Ankle boots: Brown leather heeled boots from Clarks, Black leather heeled boots from Clarks, Brown fake nubuck biker boots from Tesco, Grey block heeled fake nubuck & fake fur boots from New Look sound awful but actually my favourites & walked miles round Krakow in them!!

I fancy getting some Superga (pale pink of course) & some Vans but I shouldnt.
Next year I would like to buy some Fly London biker boots that look like the Tesco ones.

This list makes me feel really spoilt & materialistic.
I've come a long way from being that 14 year old with a pair of school shoes with a hole in that had to last to the end of term & £9 trainers when everyone else had Reebok high tops!!
I know a lot of my shoes aren't really ££s but added together it's a lot.
Then there's the ones I don't wear that I haven't posted here....

I struggle with shoes, because my feet are small and wide, so my shoe wardrobe is very basic. I also work in a fairly creative role, so don't need anything particularly smart. I have::

Boots - black flat Chelsea boots, DM monkey boots (also black);
Brogues - chunky flatforms from Dune;
Trainers - white Stan Smiths, black Stan Smiths, black Gazelles, gold Nikes, leopard print Nikes, black and white Vejas, white Supergas;
Sandals - red Saltwaters - rarely wear these as find them uncomfortable;
Flip-flops for pottering about the garden;
Fake Ugg type boots that I wear as slippers.

That's it!

Thanks ladies. Will definitely look at Dune and M&S.

@Terralee it sounds like you have a perfect mix to me!
