Does anyone know where to get jumpers that do not bobble after 3 washes and make you want to combust with rage?

I have all price ranges and they all bobble

it is cos I is washing dem wrong?

should I avoid wool completely?

or is it a Fact Of Life and I will have to put up with bobbling (is that a word?)

thanks

I have the same problem and am always nervous buying jumpers for this reason - don't get Kew jumpers they do just this, and really quickly. Best jumpers I've ever known for non-bobbling were M and S very plain ones. However, a few years ago so quality may have declined. Also, rather boring choices - crew, v-neck or polo and limited colours. I'll watch this thread with interest for any better suggestions!

Do you put them in the machine ? They would probably like to be handwashed. It only takes about 5 mins. Tbh wool does bobble just through wearing it ,but a whole hour of being thrashed about in a washing machine does make things a lot worse

handwash???

ahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahahahahahaha

not a chance in HELL of that tbh

I find that the fine gauge ones at Primark have been really good. Outlasted the angora ones I got at Gap for about 5 times the price. So I figure that synthetics are better for not bobbling .

I have just bought loads of jumpers from Hennes which you can wash at 40 , and were so cheap so when they do eventually boblle, i won't be heart broken.
I generally try to avoid washing jumpers for this very reason

EmilyDavidson · 18/09/2007 10:48

I think you can get things handwashed at the dry cleaners now. Although it might work out cheaper to wear it bobbly a couple of times and then buy a new one

oliveoil · 18/09/2007 10:56

me and handwashing do not go together

I think I will just get a Primark job lot and then throw them out

which is vvvvvvvvvv wasteful and I hate Primark as it turns me into a snob but why spend £50 on a jumper which will bobble the same as one for £5?

I have heard that if you put the bobbly offending item in a plastic bag and put it in the freezer, then give it a brush with a clothes brush while frozen they will come off. I've never tried it though. After a hard day at work, freezing my jumpers never comes to mind. Only at 7am when I am an up-and-dressed-and-bobbled-person. And by then I'm on the way to work.

If it works, Let me know!

You can get special de-bobbling combs. They usually sell them at dry cleaners.

Put each woolly (turned inside out) in a pillow case with an elastic band round one end to turn it into a bag. Wash in the machine on the delicates/wool cycle. Voila! Non-bobbly jumpers (and clean pillow cases) are yours.

Lulushmulu · 18/09/2007 15:35

Have you tried removing the bobbles by rubbing the garment with a piece of sticky tape wrapped around your hand with the sticky side out? You need the heavy duty brown sort used for wrapping parcels, not sellotape.

oliveoil · 19/09/2007 09:53

does the pillowcase thing work then? will try that

have used those debobblers before and they leave the jumper bald (or the one I used did)

have lovely jumper dress on today, all smoooth and pristine. Fast forward a few washes, bobble city I bet
