Anyone 40+ maintaining great skin without Botox, fillers etc?

I’d love botox and fillers but just too chicken and really can’t afford it tbh.
I’m 47 and skin isn’t too bad as I’ve never been a sun worshipper and wear sunscreen. I’ve never spent too much on skin care but am starting to use more serums and have just bought some retinol products (although not used them yet). I’m approaching 50 so want to ramp it up a bit and hold on to what I’ve got if I can.
Is anyone maintaining good skin at home with products rather than procedures or weekly visits to beauty therapists?

I'm 58 and I have great skin without anything but it's probably genetic though, the only part I hate is a bit of crepey neck going on which is normal for my age.
I just use simple face cream which I've always used and I am completely unlined.
I've sunbathed all my life until a few years ago it's just the luck of the draw.

I think so. Use spf 50 every day, always cleanse thoroughly and use things like The Ordinary retinol. I think a healthy diet, exercise (not running or anything extreme) and eating good fats is important too. Also good sleep - I use a silk eye mask and I sleep so much better now.

If I were to get extra help it wouldn't be botox but gentle laser to improve skin tone ie get rid of thread veins.

KimgaRoo I have the Ordinary retinol but haven’t used it yet. How often do you use it and did you experience any redness or discomfort to start?

Retinol for sure. I started one drop once a week, then twice, then every other day but two drops. I got a red spot come up doing it every night which is my skins way of saying fucking stop that now. So I stopped.

Every other days plenty for me.

Look into led face masks & vitamin c powder mixed into day moisturiser.

You lose 30% of collagen at menopause so make sure your diets not full of booze or sugary crap.

Thanks Fluffycloudland77, I’ll try that routine with the retinol see how it works for me.
I’ve got some vitamin c face drops which I’m adding to my moisturiser and will have a look at the led masks.
Luckily I don’t drink and am working towards decreasing sugar in my diet.

Yes I'm 43 & my skins alright apart from a couple of spots (as it's a bit oily & I've not been cleansing properly recently due to getting a bit depressed really).

I only have fine lines showing when I smile & I get compliments on my skin.

I've used spf15 moisturiser since my teens, going up to spf30 if I spend longer in the sun as I'm pale & burn easily. Always worn sunglasses & not used sunbeds.
I've always cleansed with lotion & then toner rather than soap or face wash as it's more gentle.
I started using Clinique smart repair serum on my face about 2 - 3 years ago? & apart from that have always used an spf15 anti ageing daily face cream (currently Boots No7 protect & perfect) in the morning & night cream in the evening.

I've never smoked but did used to binge drink so I've got a few thread veins probably from that which I put concealer on, luckily I stopped drinking 8 years ago before they got worse.

I'm 50 with a fuller face which helps, my mum isn't that lined at 70ish. I've never sunbathed and use a spf most days. Also retinol.
Apart from smoking and sun damage I think your skin is luck of the draw. I will have Botox and fillers when I think I need to.

For me it’s

SPF 50 sunscreen
Vitamin C serum
Tretinoin

Good sleep and a healthy diet help too.

I use the top %, I think it's 5% in squalane and never had any irritation whatsoever, even using once a day. I also use it around my eyes even though the instructions say not to...
