Lockdown is giving me plenty of time to think of what I could change in my beauty regime (which is currently very limited Grin ).

Please inspire me: what was your revolutionary/ life-changing/ beauty-defining decision, product, new habit or whatever?

  1. Getting enough sleep.
  2. Biotin.
  3. Using a moisturiser with sun screen since my 20s.
  4. Curly girl method.
Bridecilla · 09/05/2020 00:56

@VeganCow is the sunscreen for under / over / instead of moisturiser?

Ladyratterley · 09/05/2020 01:03

Mine are all things I can do at home, so I don’t look too awful during lockdown!
Lumea for hair removal, saves a lot of time and money waxing and shaving.
At home lash lift, also saves time day to day as I don’t need to use an eyelash curler, and can go without mascara on a low key day.
Tinting my own eyebrows using eyelure dye. And choosing to “grow my eyebrows out” about a year ago. I got married towards the end of last year and wanted lovely full eyebrows for it. I just left them for about six months, then had them threaded and tinted a week before the wedding. They looked lush despite years of over plucking when it was fashionable in the 90’s!

sestras · 09/05/2020 01:09

Botox and a good exfoliator.

VeganCow · 09/05/2020 02:47

&Bridecilla It’s for over moisturiser if you have dry skin but it’s so moisturising itself I find you don’t need it.

VeganCow · 09/05/2020 02:48

@Bridecilla that should be

Imacliche · 09/05/2020 07:02

@PinkDaydreams course you can I usually just used the cluster type lashes as fully individual ones would take a long time.
Ardell lashtite semi permanent glue.
Tip out onto a metal or glass surface.

Leave glue for 30 seconds. Pick up lash and dip on. Start from the inside and just place onto of lashes and gently push down with other end of tweezers it's actually really easy to do!

Dingdongthewitchisbread · 09/05/2020 07:52

@Ladyratterley which eyelash lift did you buy? I’ve been looking at loads but unsure which way to fo

User68953378975 · 09/05/2020 08:18

@Lifeaback @CatherineTheNotSoGreat please tell me what retinol and glycolic products you use! I’m finding the two rather confusing. I need something potent...

User68953378975 · 09/05/2020 08:18

For me it’s Botox and microblading

itchyfinger · 09/05/2020 08:21

Is that you Caroline Heirons?

@Ladyratterley please do share lash lift recs

Parkmama · 09/05/2020 08:25

Philip Kingsley Elasticiser

Double cleansing - I use a cream cleanser first then a facial wash with a face cloth

Exfoliating feet socks

Clinique 7 day scrub

Clinique City Block spf 25/40

Clarins Beauty Flash Balm mixed into Mac Studio Fix Fluid

RiverCrossing · 09/05/2020 08:31

I have moisturised and worn SPF 25 at least on my face every day since I was 15 and I think it’s had a positive effect! Also acid toning, teeth whitening and a significant effort in understanding clothes, what suits me and colours and then putting together a capsule wardrobe from that.

RiverCrossing · 09/05/2020 08:33

Oh double post but yes @DukeOfEarlGrey - me too, I had a mole removed by a cosmetic surgeon a couple of years ago and there is no scarring even though it was large! SO pleased I paid for that one Grin

revelsandrose · 09/05/2020 09:02

@swiftier can you tell me about the semi permanent eyeliner please? I look so much better with a bit of liner but as I've got older it smudges and I've always wondered about it, is it expensive? Painful? How long does it last?
A friend once saw me without liner and asked if I was I'll 😭
In an ideal world I'd love semi perm liner, micro blades brows and a very very natural semi permanent lip liner.
My skin is crap from years of acne and now I'm getting wrinkles too, I have started using a good regime and I'm feeling a lot better about my skin, if I had the above I'm sure I could just use bronzer and blusher and be good to go!

skinnyhotchoc · 09/05/2020 09:02

All the Botox, fake tan and hair extensions

PegasusReturns · 09/05/2020 09:19

Botox and decent highlights.

I think keeping a sensible weight also helps enormously.

slipperyeel · 09/05/2020 10:12

Stopped smoking
Had laser therapy on thread veins
Antibiotics for chronic rosacea
Sunscreen every single day

paradisefalls · 09/05/2020 10:27

Finding a good shampoo and conditioner that works for your hair is a game changer. For me it is the bedhead range, it's literally done wonders.

I have dry skin so did a bit of research and found neautrogena hydro boost body gel, it's absolutely fantastic so I got the face moisturiser too which is equally as great.

Swapping foundation for a BB cream.

Olaplex no6 to put moisture back in my hair.

Caviar blow dry spray.

Botox.

Ladyratterley · 09/05/2020 10:40

@itchyfinger @Dingdongthewitchisbread
I bought this eyelash lift from Amazon. Although I bought it on offer for about £14.
www.amazon.co.uk/ICONSIGN-Professional-Extensions-Semi-Permanent-Suitable/dp/B0855GW1LX?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

It is really tricky to use!
My advice is to make sure you have a good hour free when you first try it. It’s probably help to watch a tutorial on YouTube first too. Also get some more false eyelash glue in as the one in the kit isn’t great.
You might want to trim the eyelash pad as they don’t stick very well if they hang over the corner of your eye.
And finally, use the medium or bigger lash pads. I used the small ones the first time I did it and overcurled my eyelashes and was stuck with them like that for a month!

Abby21 · 09/05/2020 12:19

Hi

Where does everyone buy the biore SPF from? Thanks

Hairydogmummy · 09/05/2020 12:35

I checked out the retinol damaging your eyes thing...apparently it's a myth. It might just stink a bit if it actually went in your eye but that's it.

areyoubeingserviced · 09/05/2020 12:39

Using Astral body moisturiser
Getting veneers
SPF 50
Threading eyebrows
Exercising

Snufkins · 09/05/2020 12:46

Fake tan - I don’t look ill anymore
Eyebrows microbladed - mine were so uneven beforehand and it’s made a big difference
Finding skincare products that work including ones that are quite cheap and cheerful
Not using sunbeds ever and wearing SPF in the sun - people think I look young anyway but that definitely helps in the long run.

tinkywinkyshandbag · 09/05/2020 13:32

Stopped dying my hair. So much easier, it's in lovely condition, and I really like the grey.
