Best beauty decision you ever made

Lockdown is giving me plenty of time to think of what I could change in my beauty regime (which is currently very limited Grin ).

Please inspire me: what was your revolutionary/ life-changing/ beauty-defining decision, product, new habit or whatever?

@Lndnmummy I'm so pleased! Thank you for sharing. Cuccio products are great aren't they. You might find it doesn't last that long without the electric file to buff with but all the more for practicing!
YouTube is your friend for the lash lift, it's honestly easy, just stick to the recommended times for the perming and fixing solution.
Really happy to have helped you.

WUNDERBROW is great for eyebrows. Easy to apply and stays on for a few days - if you don't wash your face!

I tried an LVL lash lift for the first time before lockdown and loved the results! Has anyone tried doing a lash lift at home? It looks pretty tricky to do it yourself and I'm not sure I'd want to risk it.

Also, I might try Latisse if I can get a hold of it. I'm currently using the Poppy Austin eyelash serum.

Lockdown has made me realise that I can cut and colour my hair in a much nicer way than the professionals. I have really curly hair and all hairdressers cut and style it as though it is straight.

I'm never going back again. I am currently sporting curly, boufy, big glorious hair and I can't believe the time and money I've wasted over the years!

Using coconut oil to remove my make up. I put a large dollop in my hand, rub it between my palms then 'wash' my dry face with it until it's melted all my make up. I then run a flannel under warm water, wring it, and use that to remove the oil. By the time I'm done I have no trace of make up left and my skin is clean and soft. I do have to moisturise afterwards because I'm not left oily. But using coconut oil instead of harsh cleansers has really helped my skin not age too badly!

And using a mixture of beeswax, olive and castor oil to make my own moisturiser. Cheap as chips and far more effective than anything else I've tried.

"Personally I think the eyebrows and eyelashes and botox, fillers will date and/or are risky"

Botox and fillers only last a certain time so I'm not sure how they can date. They're also not very risky these days.

I'm surprised at the focus on nails - I don't see how this is a big part of what makes someone looks good or not.

Gwenhwyfar · 23/05/2020 13:36

"Not drinking alcohol"

I'd rather be ugly and have some fun Smile
What's the point looking nice if you can't go for a drink in the pub?

Be careful with latisse/careprost etc to grow eyelashes. Studies done show it causes fat atrophy to the eyes. I used it for years and slowly noticed my eyes looking sunken and more aged. After stopping for a long time (nearly 2 years)they’ve slowly gone back to normal . So what I thought was a great beauty decision really wasn’t :(

“It is still unknown what percentage of patients experience Prostaglandin Associated Periorbitopathy, but it is safe to say that it is not a rare phenomenon. It has been claimed that once the clinician is looking for it, it can be noticed nearly 100 percent of the time”

Growing out my bright red hair dye 3 years ago. I sometimes think my natural strawberry blonde with quite a lot of grey is a bit boring but it's much healthier, thicker and longer.

empireants · 23/05/2020 14:14

@user1398747928 I've been doing my own lash lifts at home for years and would never go back to a salon. It's easy to do and gets even easier the more you do it. YouTube is your friend! I used to use Salon System lash lift products but now use Iconsign and it's much cheaper and better.

empireants · 23/05/2020 14:15

@Millykitty Thank you for sharing. I've been using Careprost for 9 years without any issues but that's worrying. Off to read about it now. Thanks again

Charrin10 · 25/05/2020 11:08

Hi, does anyone use Elizabeth Arden a ceramide lift and firm day cream and if so do you recommend?

I did put this as a separate post but unfortunately no one replied. Maybe no one likes it!

threesecrets · 25/05/2020 23:16

Dying my hair. Although really needing a hairdresser now!

threesecrets · 25/05/2020 23:17

Oh and straightening my teeth.

threesecrets · 25/05/2020 23:18

With the teeth I don't really care if I look old or not especially pretty but , I think that if I have good hair and teeth I look healthier and more attractive and confident.

SunnySummerDays · 25/05/2020 23:41

Ds has started using rosehip oil after finishing roaccutane and I have tried it too and I see the difference in just a week! My skin is soft and dewy and looks really healthy. I’ve always moisturised from teens and think this really is so important. In lock down I’ve cut my hair and really pleased and it saves me money! Just debating to try grow the grey out or keep having hi lights put in.

Hairydogmummy · 26/05/2020 09:47

@Charrin10 I don't but the best place to ask might be a Facebook group if you get no joy on here. I'm on the Beauty Pie group bit those ladies know A LOT about beauty products, not just BP.

Charrin10 · 26/05/2020 11:18

Thanks hairy@Hairydogmummy I will try that x

HappyKatieA · 26/05/2020 12:59

@empireants thank you, I've just ordered a lash lifting kit, it had a special offer today, plus an extra 10% off with the code "newbie" - it was only £23!

empireants · 26/05/2020 14:13

@HappyKatieA That's great. One thing I forgot to mention about doing your own lash lifts is you look quite scary! But it's worth it Smile

HappyKatieA · 26/05/2020 14:17

@empireants - scary?? How?? Do you mean it opens your eyes wide?

Aethelthryth · 26/05/2020 14:21

Mask. No more bad face days

empireants · 26/05/2020 15:13

@HappyKatieA you glue your lashes to the shields which are glued to your eye lids so you look bizarre!

louisethedisease · 26/05/2020 16:48

Has anyone got a nuskin mini? What are your thoughts on it please?
