Help me stop my skin care pilling! [Edited at OP's request]

My skin care routine is leading to a lot of pilling lately, so would appreciate any suggestions on what I should change!

My skin is fairly 'normal' - not dry or oily. My key concerns are anti-ageing and skin brightening.

I can be a bit haphazard usually but trying to be a bit more disciplined while WFH and having more time.

I tend to double cleanse in the evening and use The Ordinary retinol and rosehip cleanser a couple of times a week. On other evenings, The Ordinary Buffet, Hyaluronic Acid and Vitamin C cream.

In the morning I use buffet, hyaluronic acid and an Aldi's moisturiser with spf. Though sometimes use the Vit C cream instead of the moisturiser. But there is so much pilling! I thought previously it might be due to primer or spf cream (normally use a separate spf cream but have run out). I've run out of buffet, so not using that just now, so that's not the culprit.

Any suggestions for a different routine or different products that might work well together? I've tried leaving longer between applying layers.

I'm not loving the Aldi moisturiser anyway and wondering if with the right serum plus spf cream I don't need moisturiser too?

Not really wearing make up just now, but would like to tackle the pilling before I start again.

FFS - my skin care is pilling, not pulling! Auto-correct... Blush

That’s a lot of products so it’s hard to unpick what the problem is exactly, apart from to tell you what you know... there is a product sat on the surface of your skin.
In the past I’ve had pilling from expensive face creams like Lancôme which is unexpected and frustrating but means you shouldn’t assume the cheaper products will be the culprit.
Do you wash your face in the shower in the morning? Or is it possible that’s it’s something on the surface of your face left over from the evening routine?
I have a heavy creamy evening cleanser but then I always wash my face in the morning. I then put lush vanishing cream (moisturiser) on as soon as I’m out of the shower before I do anything else. By the time I apply my Heliocare SPF (doubles as a primer for me) I’m usually dressed and drinking a coffee so it’s a good few minutes later.
Not sure if this helps you.

The answer is here. Basically Its ingredients clashing in your products. Have a read:

Thanks both.

I decided this morning to cleanse, exfoliate and moisturiser without any serums and the pilling was terrible.

Before I ditched the moisturiser I cleaned my fqce again with a different cleanser but used the same moisturiser and it is MUCH better. So perhaps not any serum or moisturiser, just oil in cleanser sitting on my skin causing the problem?

We'll see - will keep trying different combinations before ruling anything out!
