I just don't know where to start!

End of long term relationship , early 60's , overweight and absolutely stuck in a rut as far as my wardrobe is concerned.

Once this whole lock down thing is over I need to turn over a new leaf. I have absolutely nothing in my wardrobe which gives me joy. Same old black leggings every day with either boots or sandals and loose fitting "comfy" tops. In the summer long and loose maxi dresses but then suffer from chub rub! I don't even know what style I like or would suit. I look at other women my age and am envious of how elegant and put together they look.

I realise I haven't painted a very positive picture of myself but that's the way I feel at the minute.
Please please can anybody point me in the right direction for a nicely put together casual wardrobe without having to visit a personal shopper in a department store where I will end up spending a fortune on clothes which are not me?

I am self employed and work from home so have no need for office type, smart clothing , am 5.5 with a barrel shaped figure and not bad legs. Hate the tops of my arms on show and high neck lines or anything frilly or flouncy.

I just want to start this new chapter in my life feeling half decent and enjoying choosing clothes each morning instead of opening my wardrobe with a sigh!

I posted a similar : need a fresh start style wise' thread recently.
Styled by Susie on Facebook was recommended to me. I paid £35 for a shape/ style analysis and it has given me some really good ideas of what I need and what I would probably get rid of. You also get a few makeup tips.

I am a bit younger but similar height with a huge chest so nothing high necked or frilly for me either, I also have slim legs but a big menopause tummy. I have completely gutted my wardrobe to buy things that look better on my new shape. I have bought several pairs of wide leg 7/8 or cropped trousers, which to my surprise are really flattering, mine are from Autograph at M&S and Whistles (via Ebay). I also have three of these: www.qvcuk.com/MarlaWynne-Printed-Jersey-Sleeveless-Dress.product.177063.html?sc=PSCH which are really flattering and don't cling to your tummy. You can put a t-shirt under them to hide your arms or they do the same dress with sleeves. They are not to everyone's taste but are viscose and comfortable and with QVC you can try on at home and return if they don't suit you. For my top half I find the slightly shorter fitted style shirts/blouses look better than anything oversized because anything baggy makes me look bigger.

I have loads of new stuff and styles I can't wait to wear. Try things you wouldn't normally wear or places you wouldn't normally shop, I get my petite jeans from ASOS and they are a great fit and I never thought I would buy clothes from a tv shopping channel! I hope you find a style that suits you, age doesn't matter.
