What are the best things I can do for my skin?

Besides the obvious! I get enough sleep, drink a litre of water each day, and do not drink alcohol at all. Don't smoke. I have also recently begun to use a dermaroller once a week with hyaluronic acid. I think avoiding sugar is probably the next obvious one, is there anything else that I'm overlooking? There's nothing particularly wrong with my skin I'd just like it to look dewier and plumper.

More water. I think it should be around 3l a day so you’re well under.

Suncream! Spf 50 at all times.

You can do more in depth research but that keeps my skin clear and its a manageable effort.

You could try tweaking your routine a bit and see if makes a difference. If definitely has for me, after suffering from sensitive and reaction prone skin for years I now follow this routine religiously and my skin has never looked better. I haven't really changed the products either but by doing it in this order twice a day has had a huge impact.

My routine now looks like this. Double cleans in the evening if I'm wearing makeup/spf with a flannel, single cleans in the morning. The biggest change here for me is never washing my face in the shower, always at the basin afterwards! It has made a huge difference, I didn't realise just how bad it was until I stopped. Then I apply hyaluronic acid straight after cleanse whilst my skin is still damp. Then follow with a serum, moisturiser and spf if I'm going outdoors.
I've also recently discovered the la Roche Posay toleriane ultra 8 hydrating spray which has really helped keep my skin hydrated in lockdown.

Make sure your skin is really really clean on a night before you go to bed. Sounds obvious but using a hot cloth cleanser has really improved my skin. I love Superdrug Vitamin E products for my sensitive skin.

I run a small skincare clinic :)
Hyaluronic acid is your friend, but make sure you are using a moisturizer too it's essential.

Vitamin C will brighten your skin by increasing cell turnover.
Retinol is something to consider too. It will create fresh new skin growth. But it's very important to wear an SPF with retinol. And not use it at the same time as Vitc.

one2 what's wrong with washing your face in the shower?

one2 · 03/05/2020 06:21

@therona the water is too hot, plus you can't get your products on straight after cleansing. I don't think it's a problem for everyone but for me it's made such a difference.

You're right - the biggest thing I've noticed that makes the difference is cutting back on sugar.

SPF 50. Every day. For the rest of your life.
