Classic pieces wardrobe for SAHM help!

Feeling inspired by the thread I've just read on here by Australian OP, I am wanting to re-do my wardrobe with more expensive but timeless pieces. Two BUTs

  1. I am clueless about dressing myself
  2. I am a home educator. This means I am out and about most of every day, in all weathers. I need to be able to climb trees etc with the dc, walks in the forest, that kind of thing. So I want to look well turned out, but not overdone or at all corporate as it would look weird in our social circle plus be highly impractical.

Can anyone help- what would your staples be if you were in my position?

I wear my silk joggers to walk the dog, play with the kids, climb trees, etc. Compared to other thin fabrics it is very strong and doesn’t snag easily (I’m talking about matt silk in a crepe- like texture, not shiny silk, that is very delicate). Washed silk is also good for casual dresses. The only thing that makes it high maintenance is that it’s often labelled dry clean only but I tend to ignore that and hand wash or hand wash cycle in my machine.

Thank you for the suggestions? Any ideas where to look for good T-shirts that fit well? Would like good quality fabrics. I don't like high round necks as they don't work with my shape and i feel really frumpy.

Thanks to those listing your wardrobe essentials. Really helping.

I have a good raincoat (sea salt), Chelsea boots, long leather waterproof boots and le chameau wellies. I have a backpack that's ok, though maybe I could upgrade that.

Re bras- where's the go to for a good quality bra?

Whistles has double scoop long sleeve t shirts. H&M especially their conscious and premium quality divisions have very affordable and decent quality tshirts and tops in cotton. Uniqlo has some great basics too.

For bras I had to go to Bravissimo post pregnancy and what's key I think is getting a really good fitting... I was wearing the wrong size. Hard in lockdown... There are YouTube measuring guides.

I meant Jigsaw: https://www.jigsaw-online.com/product/double-front-scoop-top/J10819BK000?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIrZvn4ZCL6QIVAbTtCh0FxwsSEAQYAyABEgKNTTDBwE

Not cheap though. Similar H&M ones except not double scoop just one layer.

Sandvisk has some nice grown up backpacks not just teenager ones with lots of practical storage compartments. Otherwise look on Trouva for some nice indie brands.

If you can measure yourself (probably your only option at present) I would look at Figleaves for underwear - huge choice of styles and sizes including some decent quality brands.
