My dentist does botox now

Has anyone had botox? Would you consider it? If you get it done once do you need to keep getting a top up?

haven't had it but have plenty of friends who have.

It does need topped up every few months. from what i've seen once you have it done once it's hard to stop as you aren't likely to suddenly be 'ok' with the wrinkles having not had them for 3 months ifkwim

Saying that i do have a friend who only has it once or twice a year or to look 'fresher' for a particular event.

A surgeon friend of mine told me if anyone was qualified to administer botox it was your dentist due to the vast amount of time and training they spend on the skull/muslces of the face etc etc

not sure if i would ever have it. don't like the idea but vanity might take over at some point. I'm hoping sense would win!

I've been having laser treatment for broken veins by the side of my nose, by a dentist!

Seems odd, but she's a 'dr' and therefore, I hope, know something about what she's doing.

Haven't succumbed to the botox yet, but who knows!

because i'm worth it you do not look 47!
I'd like the name and address of your dentist please

rantinghousewife · 15/09/2007 22:20

dh's dentist does it but, I have to say I wouldn't have it done. I just don't think an expanse of shiny alien head would suit me. You can spot someone who's had it done a mile off.

BecauseImWorthIt · 15/09/2007 22:27

Thank you

Said dentist is very keen to start botox, but I'm not sure I'm ready for it yet, or that I need it - or that it's just the beginning of a slippery slope!

Hurlyburly · 15/09/2007 22:29

Mine leans over me while I am in the chair, all masked and menacing, brandishing that whizzy whirry thing, and says "d'ya want botox?".

I almost said yes. Almost.

rantinghousewife · 15/09/2007 22:31

Opps, didn't mean to sound so harsh! That is just my opinion, and from the looks of your pic, you really don't need it.

rantinghousewife · 15/09/2007 22:32

Hb, your dentist sounds like that demented drug pusher on trainspotting.
D'ya want my gear, or no?

BecauseImWorthIt · 15/09/2007 22:35

Rantinghousewive - I'm absolutely with you! I don't think I need it either! I do have wrinkles (I have a very lined forehead) but they come inevitably with age.

I think there's something a bit sad about having to look absolutely 'shiny' when it's obvious you're no spring chicken.

I know that my dentist is looking at me with the enthusiasm of someone who has just mastered the new technology!

I'm dealing at the moment with things that, in my eyes have gone wrong - e.g. broken veins and a couple of eczema patches - rather than trying to turn the clock back.

I know that I am lucky, though, that I do look younger than my age - maybe in a few years' time I might be reconsidering her offer of Botox!
